? for Torplexed....

How do you go about drawing everything you draw? Most of your pics are pretty dang cool. Do you just whip that up in Photoshop or something?

My guess is that he makes them using a drawing board & Photoshop. :hmm:

Im guessing he gets the images telepathically from the CiA.

I'm thinking more that he sees visions of the future, like that guy from Heroes. :hmm:

It's pretty simple and straightforward...draw a pencil sketch....scan sketch into computer. Draw up some colored linework over pencil sketch to hold it together. Paint in colors in Photoshop or Painter in layers between the linework and the sketch. Boom. No real skill needed anymore in art. Damn...her slip is showing again.

Lol, Torplexed, I've had enough failures in PSP to know that there's still skill needed in art, and you've got artistic skill in the bucketloads

Hey Torplexed, got a question for ya that isn't the usual "what tablet do you use?" - and I presume you do use a tablet.

I assume you use a tablet - just how useful is a tablet? Though I consider myself well-versed in the ways of photoshop, I've never held a tablet and I've always wondered what all the buzz was about. :hmm:

Ahh... Well... If no skill is needed in art anymore, what does that make me? Bottom of the barrel in the most unskilled of the unskilled? I'm feeling pretty low on the subject about now! I don't see how I could ever draw like you. Anyway, thanks for the heads up. Wondered what kinds of steps you used.

I was somewhat wary of drawing tablets before I got a Wacom. Now I can't imagine working without one. Keeps your computer art from looking as mechanical and dull since you are using your more natural hand and wrist movements instead of translating through a clunky mouse. They shine most whenyou have to render irregular soft objects like trees, foliage, clouds, snow, fur, hair, space apes, etc. The stylus can double as a mouse too.

As for skill in art...it's a lot easier than it used to be with computers. No more toxic fumes, solvents, thinners, dried paint, clean-up. However, it puts me even more in awe of the guys who put out stunning art on a regular basis in the ages before the 'undo' button and the pixel. Practice and stubborn patience is still the key tho. To this day I'm still unhappy with the way I draw....so I guess that means there is still more to learn.

www.freewebs.com

?? id love to see your whole collection of work,, btw, i noticed in some threads after somone posts something sometimes you draw a picture, how long does it take you to draw a pic est. time? 20 min? 30 min?

GSpector 03-18-07 02:58 AM

As I like to tell people that think Computers are hard,

"Ruling the World is easy, if you know how"

I'm sure his artwork is the same. The more you know, the easier it is.

I've done my share of pixel editing (with Neopaint & Corel 11), but what he does just blows me away. In a good way, of course ;)

I've used a tablet with a CADD program many years ago, so I know they really to ease things up but it still comes to skill with the hands and mind.

Skill I wish I had
