GWX laggs
hi all,
when i play silent hunter with GWX, i am very lagging. even when i play without the High setting, im still laggy when i am under attack and stuff. also the loading times are very long, when i start a mission or my campaign the loading takes over 7 mins! but when i had GW and stock sh3 i had no laggs, and i think my system is also good enough ( i have a 512 videocard, pentium 4 and 1024 mb memory). does any1 know how to solve the laggs? thx ow and another question: what is anti-aliasing and how does it work?? |
Better system than mine and not only lags near convoys
Try shutting down other programs running in the background Usually helps |
My card is slower than yours but I do not have anywhere near 7 min load time. Do a disc clean up and defrag. Sounds to me like the hard drive is hunting for files all over the place. See it that helps. It usually helps me.

Before you go out of base minimize the game to desktop.
crtl/alt/delete and then give sh3 a high priority!! |

If it's the native XP version then this only moves files to occupy the minimum amount of HDD space. You need a program which actually moves/arranges the files by name, accessed date or modified date. Ideally defrag by way of name. Norton System Works or O&O Defrag will accomplish this. |

And of course I keep the spyware out with "Spybot-Search & Destroy" and "Ad-Aware SE Personal" (both free). I purchased "Diskeeper 10 Professional" for my defragging which is much better than the defragger that comes with most computers. |
I get the odd short lock up and the loading is a bit slow. All this will be sorted out latter this year or next when I buy SH4 and hopefully the mod guys turn it into something better like GWX has done for SH3. :up:

Also do this i find it works really well hit alt-ctrl-delete till windows taks manager comes up then go to the tab called proccess. Then find the sh3 exe its usually the one thats usuing the most memory right click on it and you will be presented with a drop down menu go to set priority and put it at either high or real time and as soem one else suggested make sure all else in the back ground is shut down.
Also get a program called tune up utilities 2006 i find that it helps whats running in windows very well including what launches at start up. Hope that helps and happy hunting:up: |
@Leeclose.

But in addition to the prioity thing definitely eliminate as many background programs and processes. Its amazing the crap that windows runs by default that you don't need. You can disable most of it through "run/msconfig" and there you can change your startup progs and the processes that run. Though I wouldn't touch the processes til you can find a guide that explains them. I once disabled someting that made my ATI Catalyst Control Centre stop functioning and I couldn't figure how to fix it. Be careful, Windows is like a bitchy mistress thats having her period 24/7. |
