Reload randomness?
Some time ago I found a convoy and saved a few klicks from it. Attacked it and found HMS Rodney in the middle. Cocked up the attack so reloaded (weak I know) for another go. Same convoy, only this time there was no Rodney!
Last night I saved just after I'd sunk a Fiji in harbour, getting 10725 tons on my log :D. However, when I later reloaded, the Fiji was still there resting on the bottom with its front out of the water, and there was no tonnage on my log! It's no longer a target so I can't hit it again . Don't get it... Anyway was wondering is this sort of thing normal? It's certainly a bit frustrating but maybe it teaches that reloads are poor form ;). |
never save when ships are close and never save submerged either, all it does screw things up
|
I think there is some element of randomness. My 2nd patrol I had saved just after receiving intel on a convoy. I found the HMS Rodney & a large tanker part of the convoy.
Subsequently when I reloaded that save there was a Revenge class BB and a medium tanker instead. |

The reason you will see a different ship in a convoy etc if you save and reload is that the convoy has generic entries
2nd time around it may not select the exact same ship but the type will be the same |
Noob question here. So what do you guys do when its time to get some shut-eye and shut down the computer....this being if I am stalking a convoy in hydro-phone or periscope range????

I press pause :D

When about to quit, I make normal save. Then run game for about three minutes and klick save and get out.
When near ships, I go to pause. |

Real uboat commanders didn't get the option to 'Pause' or 'Save & Exit' |
You guys just crack me up I hope that SH4 is not as "finicky" about this when to save business. Love the game .... but this feature I cannot stand! I only play about an hour to hour and half at time. Oh well....maybe SH4 will do the trick!
Thanks! Wilcke |
sh4 is out today in the uk isnt it????
