Will we be ableto manage the crew?

AS this game is coming closer to release, you can see I am asking more questions that I don't remember reading from when they first said SH4 was to be made..

I like the fact that SH3 you can move guys around and stuff, but what about having a little more detail to it?

in SH3 I actually modded the fatigue thing with the crew, I hated moving them every time to rest up.

What about an engine room? will there be one?

The crew is now on a 3 rotational shift . You still have to interact with the crew to put the best man for his particular skill in a job that suits him best . I am pretty sure i have this ihfo correct .

As far as i know the sub has just a command room , but boy oh boy what a command room it is . Looks like much more animations from the crew there. If i am wrong someone please correct me .

I believe there are 5 places you can be on the sub. The control room, conning tower, the bridge, deck gun, and AA guns.

So no engine management?
What about the hydrophone room? there has to be a place to listen for contact?
TDC??

cmdrk is refering to the compartments that have three-dimensional models. There is a hydrophone interface, and the engine compartments will be managed a la SHIII.

As far as I know is that radar and hydrophones are located in the conning tower. You can acces them but there's no extra room for them like the German U-Boats had.

One change in the crew management screen is that the engine room crew slots are combined for both the electrics and diesels. Makes practical sense, and it'll prevent that bug where non-machinist-rated petty officers refuse to move automatically from one to the other. :shifty:

US Fleet subs were a bit different. There were two diesel engine rooms (forward and rear), and then a Maneuvering Room. That may be one reason why they changed the layout of the crew screen.

Ah, I see, thanks. It's going to be nice as well to not have to devote so many slots to the engine rooms just to keep the engines running. It's always puzzled me why the devs thought the Germans could stuff so many guys into the cramped confines of a hot diesel engine room...
