Denmark Strait
If your interested in the adventure of the Bismark you can goto www.battleshipbismarck.info/section-1.htm and this will give the day by day detail of it's adventure and ending. You can also got www.german-navy.de/kriegsmarine/ships and look at each ship involved in WWII and follow each of their paths. I have other sites that I goto and print maps of convoy routes and WWII operations on both axis and allies sides so I know where to go and when to see the action. If I or anyone here can be of more help just hollar:up:

Links to WWII events
For information on the ships of the kriegsmarine just before and during WWII I went to
http://www.german-navy.de/kriegsmarine/ships/index.html you can click on the type of ship such as Battleship then it will give you a list of the names in that group. You can then see all the events that happened for that ship. Then you can goto the operations page to get the list of german invasion or sea operations of battles. http://www.german-navy.de/kriegsmari...ons/index.html The link below is a map of Operation Weserübung the invasion of Norway. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...-Norway-1a.jpg and http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...-Norway-1b.jpg when you arrive at the page of the map put your cursor over the map and click to enlarge it then print it as I did to add to my library of maps. Here is the main link for Artic convoys and battles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categor...f_World_War_II Next is a map of the Battle of North Cape which is located at the very tip of Norway. It happened on 26 December 1943 http://www.bobhenneman.info/mapnc.jpg Next is a map of the Battle of Berents Sea same area of location different time. It happened on 31 December 1942 http://www.bobhenneman.info/mapbbs.jpg Scharnhorst's first wartime operation was a sweep into the Iceland-Faroes passage in late November 1939 with Gneisenau in which she sank the British Armed Merchant Cruiser HMS Rawalpindi http://www.bobhenneman.info/mapsgr.gif For the Mediterranean Sea goers: The naval Battle of Taranto took place on the night of 11 November — 12 November 1940 during World War II. The Royal Navy launched the first all-aircraft naval attack in history, flying a small number of aircraft from an aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean and attacking the Italian fleet at Taranto. The effect of the British aircraft on the Italian warships led pundits around the world to predict the end of the "big gun" ship and the rise of naval air-power. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Taranto I am always looking for information and maps so if anyone wants me to look for something for them just ask and I shall see what I can find on it. you can add the request in a post or you can message me. Good luck and Happy hunting.:ping: |
