lucky?? or just plain good?
its mid 1942 and im in a IXB, i decide to attack a large convoy north west of Ireland. i make my attack and sink a decent amount of tonnage. then i have 3 DDs after me (2 flower class and a black swan) i do a depth check and i have 69m under keel :o so i think to myself "uh oh im dead now for sure". after 5 hours of relentless DCing they finally give up after return to the convoy which is by now a million miles away not even on hydraphones anymore. i tell ya in that depth of water you have to be very much on ya toes.
so to say i was in shallow water facing 3 DDs i reckon i did very well to come away with out a scratch  i eventually finish the patrol on 34k tonnage. i didnt even patrol my grid as i felt i had pushed my luck enough for one day:D |
Ah, time for my Valletta story again. :rotfl:
Short Version: WaW game (DiD), Port of Valletta, ver bad weather, 2km´s from Valletta I got detected by 5 DD´s in depth of ~25m. The deeper waters were 90km to the north. Was pounded the whole way there, got heavy damage but survived to fight another patrol (in which I was sunk by a fecking aircraft ). |
