Do you hunt in neutral harbours?

Just wondering whether fellow kaluens pop into neutral harbours to see whether there are any enemy merchant shipping to bag.

On my first IX patrol, I popped into Rekyavik harbour on a whim. Found a British fishing boat which I sunk by gunfire.

Then in my 2nd (current) patrol, I visited the Azores. Bagged a medium tanker (13000T! ) & a small merchant.

Any others try this?

I know in RL you can't do this without creating a diplomatic ruckus, but this is GWX... ;)

Short answer: Yes

Long Answer: Hunting in Neutral Harbours can be really profitable. If the docked ships are not armed you can even use your deck gun to take them out.

Neutral harbors

Yes. I have done it a couple of times. Once in a Portgeese harbor in the Atlantic. It was an island, and I don't remember the name. It had one Brit tanker which I put a fish into and a bunch of Italian ships which of course I left alone.

:-? Finally got to US Shores and killed ten men. Its called ground the boat in one meter of water. Had to back off and go east. :shifty:

Still having fun though.

No, I've never hunted a neutral harbor....I might now, though.

Seconded :o

Any advise where?

I looked into Ponta Delgado in the Azores, found a small Brit freighter outside the breakwater, sent an eel into it. It sank from "internal" explosion.:smug: I never soil the Kriegsmarine's sterling reputation and respect of neutral sovereignty. :smug: :smug: :smug:

I suppose what you find depends on the time of year. I got lucky in the Azores - Oct/Now 1939.

I think this is only feasible in a Type IX where you have the capacity to range far & wide. A Type VII is just too short ranged.

OT: I'm having a successful 2nd patrol - 63000+ tons, 13 ships incl one tanker I sank in the Azores. Only 2 eels left, less than 25% fuel remaining. I'm off the west coast of Ireland and I'l only attack targets that I stumble across - I don't think I have enough fuel for detours and chases at high speeds!

Yes, raiding neutral ports is very profitable. You can get alot of renown out of a pleasent visit to a port.

Doesnt anyone know of any uboats raiding ports such as New York and other neutrals , during WW2??
