Should we combine SH3/SH4 Mods Forum? Or have separate?

I would like to get your input. With SH4 coming out soon, I'm sure the gurus here will be cooking up mods. Should we havea separate forum for SH4 mods, or make this forum the SH3/SH4 Mods Workshop? Since you guys are very active, you would be the best people to advise me.


Pros for having combined SH3/SH4 Mods forum:
All mod guys in the same forum, can see all the threads easily

One less forum overall in the Subsim Radio Room, if it can all be in the same place

SH3 mod makers will probably work with SH4 mod makers, and many will be the same people



Pros for having individual SH3 Mods forum and SH4 mods forum
SH3 Mods forum is very active, adding another subject like SH4 mods could mean that daily topics stretch back to page 2 or 3

Less confusion, topics in each forum would pertain only to that game

They can always be merged at a later date if deemed necessary

Seperate:

Silent Hunter General (for ranting and blah blah blah nonsense)
Silent Hunter III Mods (mod releases for SH3 and discussions and outsider blah blah blah)
Silent Hunter IV Mods (mod releases for SH4 and discussions and outsider blah blah blah)

Having them together will just add more confusion especially when using search engine to find keywords within discussions. If I type in "torpedo mod" while looking for something for SH4 I don't want results coming back to some version made for SH3. They are two different products with two different file structures. Combining them will "nerf" the purpose of having a forum search tool.

Plus, you have to think long-term. Silent Hunter developers are never going to finish one game. They are always going to be moving on to develop the next incomplete one. So expect a soon to follow incomplete Silent Hunter V, VI, VII, and so on, and so forth. You will need modding forums for all of these.

As you can see with all the theads of does this work with this mod or this mod. It would be a nightmare, with all the added people asking does this mod work with SH3 or does this mod work with SH4 the modderators here would be working over time. And by going on what its like at the moment i doubt they would cope.

I vote for the separation, that would just make the forum clearer ! :cool::up:

Also voted for separate, should be less confusing, the problem won't be the modders, but the general users, I can see the posts asking "Does GWX patch 1.03 works with sh4 ?" :D

Agreed, for the same reasons. :yep:

i say have them separate because some people (like me) dont have the pc to run shiv so we can stay productive with sh3 without being overshadowed by sh4. i think that there could be a joint ideas section, where ideas could be shared as if the two mod forums were together (dont know if this makes sence but there ya go!)
