What does S.H. stand for ?
I know I should not have been absense so long, too much good stuff I missed. I wanted to surf subsim many times but that warden just did not want to let me at the computer
I will just drop a few Q without searching or reading the forums, I know you guys hate that, and what better way is there to celebrate a return than to annoy people right away :-: - I notice there seem not a lot of ingame screenies available that show the controls, map and shoreline. So where will I find them ? - What should I upgrade in my system to play SH4 with a good quality ? I have a P4 3.2 Ghz, 1 meg ram and a Geforce FX5600 card ? - What are the top three best surprises (we thought we would never get) regarding SH4 ? - What are the top three disappointment (we thought we would get but did not) regarding SH4 ? Drebbel PS: it is good to be back. Next 2 round are on me ! :arrgh!: |
Hiya
Ok with your system i recon all you need is a new graphics card (geforce 6600 or higher) In my views the best surpirses were Transparant water, downed pilots, crews on deck and on lifeboats and holes in ships that have been hit :p Disapointment wise i would say the fact there are no other subs in the game (AI subs) all i can think of for now Screenshots can be found all over the place. gamespot is a good place to look. and the sticky topic here  I guess i wasnt around when you were last here but welcome back anyway :) |

Heh! heh! and I thought I was about the only one with a FX5600. It's been a good card and has played any other Sim iv'e tried. |
Hey Drebbel, is this the start of a Leg-Pulling Contest?

3 best for me are:
*Rescuing down pilots and special ops missions  *S-class submarine is in and playable. *Visual damage to ships (holes) and translucent water look superb  3 Worst *No other submarines in the world apart from player - and no SUB AI AGAIN:down:  (you want Ai subs, then you gotta go back to SH2 how stupid is that?) *No other units can be added - or at least like sh3 it wont be possible until tools are developed, so much for being more "mod friendly"  *Multiplayer sounds ok - but i think a fully playable Japanese escort or two would have made it so much better. :shifty: |
Drebbel,
It is really nice to see you, it has been a long time. I don't have three goods and three bads per se. Good: 1. The conning tower will be a busy busy place. 2. The wonderful new graphics. 3. pit stops at Midway and the different kinds of missions involved. Not so good: 1. No captain's cabin. 2. any radio shack? 3. This isn't based on any consensus, but kinda where I feel chunks of the community are at. I'm sure that I will be corrected on this post haste. |
Hi Drebbel
Nice to see the Dutch Sea Lord back. Got any brooms?
Check the screenshot sticky just above. There are a lot of demos out now to reviewers generating screen shots. You'll probably be OK with 1 Gig of Ram, but 2 is a lot better for this. I think the 5600 will just work--mine worked fine for both SH3 and IL2--but I've upgraded to a 7600. My 3 surprises were seeing the S-boat saved at the last minute (squeaky wheel maybe), the new enhanced instruments (scope TDC, slideouts, and pop-enlarge), and the amazing water textures with depth clarity. My chief disappointment is the loss of at least 1/3rd and maybe as much as half of our interior modeling--we lost the entire forward compartment with its 4 spaces and possibly one or 2 other interior stations in the control room. |
Drebbel's back! Something more to cheer about. Good to see you again...was starting to wonder. Your timing is excellent. Gametime is almost here. ;)
