We also sometimes observed that while one of our Dackel was taking on another dog, the other Dackel just sat down and whatched his comrade beating the hell out of his victim. dachshunds not necessarily fight when their is a fight. They only fight when they want to. No matter if there is already a fight, or not  Small dwarfs with great hearts and plenty of character. Also an annoying tendency to behave like ballerinas. what to expect of a dog that is expected to attack into a badger's sett and scare him out - and if the badger is stubborn, fight with him? It often happens that both animals get stuck that deep inside the sett that the hunter needed to grab a shovel and dig him out. (Dachshund= badge-dog). If I would live in according place, i would have several dogs and cats. Shepard dogs, Huskies, Terriers maybe, and of course Dachshunds. I also know who probably would tyrannize the pack! http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/2...ortraitap2.png Our "Kämpfer-Henny" back then in the 80s. Looks so sweet and harmless, but once fought down a Dobermann. We had a Collie, and a second Dackel (black, short hair), too, the latter was so muscular that it felt like stroking a tree trunk. |
My parents have an identical one, Buster:lol:
Its for company mostly but we have hunted deer with it also, theres a law here that limits the size of dog in deer hunting. |

A dachshund? Hunting - deer...? That surprises even me! Is the word "hunting" to be taken literally, or are the dogs just waiting until their owner is done with this afternoon's business? |

It goes in to caves, it pursues and tracks. |
Hm, yes, sure, I allowed myself getting distracted by overboarding imagination of mine: a small Teckel with flying ears chasing down a deer in full race... Sure, tracking deed, that is done here, too.

It barks as hell but the deers only find it annoying. Meen while someone is sneeking close with a rifle..;) |
I red that the Japanese football team brought a Dachshund with them to last years world championship, as a mascot. And in order to serve it's purpose well, they named it Erwin Rommel.
Judging by their character, that was a wise selection of name! |
Disturbing news indeed Skybird.
In my family we've got a third generation of Dachshunds now. Previous ones were brown but recent one, Leon, turned out black and by far he's the most active and individual of them all. He's just nuts about chasing wild boar and deer while on a walk to the woods if he gets to sniff one out. It's the way he's always been, nature's call i guess. No hunting though, we don't do it. That's a pic of the little bugger during a walk by the lake in November, damn it was cold. http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/2097/dsc00308po7.jpg |
They always look so cute and harmless, but then...
|
I have a whacked out hyper poop eating boston terrier.
