GWX ranges seem to be ... different

Is it just me or did GWX change the definition of short, middle and long range?. My sonar man keeps reporting contacts at "middle range" when they are clearly farther than three kilometers. Also, my gunners seem to be trigger happy firing at targets that are too far away even though they were instructed to fire only at middle range targets.

I don't mind if they changed it, but a warning about the change of this crutial feature would be important, specialy to people that play without the "God's eye view".

Yes, GWX changed the definitions for Short, Medium or Long:

Sonar contacts in Original: Short - 1000, Medium - 3000, Long -20000
Sonar contacts in GWX: Short - 1000, Medium - 8000, Long - 16000

Cannon in Original: Short - 1000, Medium - 3000, Long - 5000
Cannon in GWX: Short - 1000, Medium - 5000, Long - 10000

AA Gun in Original: Short - 500, Medium - 1000, Long - 1500
AA Gun in GWX: Short - 1000, Medium - 3000, Long - 4000

Thanks for clearing that up....

Wonder what made them decide that 8 kilometers is "medium range" for the sonar?... I must disagree, since succesfully shooting a torpedoe at something that far away is certainly not a "medium" acomplishement :o

How about the watch officer on the bridge, does he use the "gun" definition of "short", "medium" and "long" range?
