two newbie questions

Hi everyone, I am old AOD player but have thoroughly enjoyed GWX 1.02 and SH3 Commander and all the mods and skins that SH3 has generated. This is a truly fantastic group of subsim lovers. I have two GWX 1.02 questions is there any way of turning up the ambient control volume on the hydrophones? Second, does patrolling on the surface with the observation periscope fully extended at 4.5X with a full watch crew help at all at spotting over no periscope? Does raising either periscope while on the surface help at all at spotting? Thanks.

In answer to your periscope question, see this thread on the subect:

The Hydrophone station has a "volume knob" on the lower right of it. Click on it to change the volume. Note that it doesn't seem to turn, it only seems to have two settings (lower and higher). Alternatively, you could use the Setkeys utility to assign a key to the Hydrophone volume (People say they get several levels of volume using a key, instead of clicking on it).

Welcome aboard kaleun :arrgh!:

Go to the sound files in
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIIIGWXv102\data\Sound
Select the file/s you want to change...back em up then use Windows Sound Recorder to increase their volume :arrgh!:

How to Increase the Volume?

Jimbuna, please excuse a technically naive question, but how do you actually do that with the Windows Sound Recorder or similar Device (my computer has SoundMAX Digital Audio installed, rather than the Windows Sound Recorder)? Can you please describe the process step by step? I assume you would be manipulating the appropriate *_hyd.wav files for each type of ship. I would really appreciate the help. Cheers EmeAzul

Under the Effects menu, there is an Increase Volume option. Click it. Also, Windows Sound Recorder is installed with Windows. Look under the Start->Programs->Accessories -> Entertainment menu.
