Impatient GWX noob has RTFM question
Hi all,
THis is probably in the manual, which I am still making my way through, but I just couldn't wait to try out Gibratar in GWX (quite an experience - and lots of Damage control practice - :D) The only thing that I had a problem with was diving. (this was before I had taken any damage) I can use the standard commands just fine, but when I would issue a command for a new depth on the depth meter, I would hear the command repeated by the COB, but then the command would not be executed. For instance, I am at periscope depth and I issue a command for 120 meters. I hear the COB repeat 120 meters, but then we stayed at PD. I was moving forward at 3 knts, so there should have been sufficeint flow over the control surfaces to accomplish this, albeit slowly. I let it run for a good 15 minuties and we hadn't even started to move to the lower depth. Yet I have started a campaign where I haven't noticed this - but then I can't say for certain that I have done anything but go to a 'pre-set' depth by keyboard in the campaign as I am still transiting to the North Sea. If someone just wants to say RTFM pp.xx-xx, that's fine. I just want to get in-sim as fast as possible. Thanks in advance. |
RTFM!!! j/k
Try hitting 'D' for dive (if that works keep an eye on your depth) or 'C' for crash dive (should dive to 60/70 metres) and see if those functions are working :arrgh!: |
Is this evident at other speeds?
I can usually change depth (very slowly) @ 2kts. Try pressing D (dive) and see if you gain depth. It's worth bringing this up for the Dev's to see.:yep: |
Press the C key!!! J/K!!! What boat are you commanding? I know my IXB at 3 kts for a dive is slow. It will slow to 2kts and almost seen she is not going anywhere. If the DD know I'm about and have a pretty good fix on me, I hit flank for the bottom! What the heck, I make noise but I'm getting to safe haven quickly:up:

15 minutes is a hell of a dive time even for a IXD2. Something is very wrong here.

I'll try some tests as soon as I get home and get the sim fired up

There are some tests going on about the positive buoyancy as we speak.
