I must have been brain dead all this time because ive just realised SH4 is almost only 3 weeks away (even less in america) :D

For me it just seems to have jumped forward.... cant complain though :up:

Mate if you live in OZ $3000 is a massive over estimate don't you think. A $1500 box will play it just fine and $2000 will get u a core2duo with x1950xt 2gig ram and dual sata in raid 0... if u get bootom end core2duo u can even get the 8800 in that box for less than 2K.

Originally I saw it was March 13th in the States, now I am seeing March 23rd.

Anyone able ot clarrify the American release date?

TDK1044 02-22-07 08:34 AM

I don't think people should get freaked out about having to have a super high end system in order to play and enjoy SH4. My worry (which has now been addressed by Ubisoft) was that when they were posting 512MB RAM as a minimum spec, they were creating a false sense of security for those with low end systems.

SH4 will not run on a low end system. You need a mid range Nvidia/Ati card or higher, at least 1 GIG of RAM and a decent processor. That said, if you only have a Pentium P4 and something like an Nvidia 6800 video card, you can run and enjoy this game at very decent graphical settings.

Posted ship date for the US from the Ubi store is still March 13.

My question is if its 3 weeks away when does the product go gold?My next question is when that happens how long till shipping?

I second that

I honestly don't think anyone took that seriously. Most gamers disregard the posted "minimum" specs and focus on the "recommended" specs as a benchmark. That 512MB was more than likely ignored outright from the very onset.

I agree with you, Flintlock. My concern was for the folks who found their way here who are not gamers as such and who have less powerful systems.

I assume the game will be going gold any time now. maybe by the first of march.
The game will probably be mass produced and shipped within two weeks of going gold.

I think we need a sticky thread for this game requirments fiasco.

Snakeeyes 02-22-07 03:35 PM

Hey Flintlock. Check your PMs ok?

I tend to keep my comps for around 5 years and to future proof for 5 years with a new monitor will be around $3000 .

flintlock 02-22-07 04:24 PM

Future proof is a misnomer, but especially so when dealing with technology. Users that use hardware taxing apps are in a perpetual state of system upgrades, be that component or wholesale system swaps. Those that use computers for email, word processing and web browsing can reasonably expect to go for a few years between upgrades, minor or otherwise. Definitely not an inexpensive process for those in the former group.
