CTD issue after reinstalling SH3

Ok, after reinstalling SH3, I patched it, installed GWX and the 1.02 patch.
After starting it, and starting a new career the loading screen comes up and then it will CTD. And will get the standard error in windows.

I will try to do the following:
uninstall SH3
SH3 Commander
defrag the HDD
and reinstall everything.

Any other suggestions?

I wish you luck. I would do it in this order. Clean install, patch then add the GWX addon. Also I think you need to install the 1.04 patch.

Don't forget to delete all the files associated with SH3 which are in your Documents & Settings folders. If you uninstall SH3 and leave those files intact, it'll cause you to crash, and other similar problems.

:lurk:

AND the residual files left in your SilentHunterIII folder. Uninstalling SH3 does NOT remove all files - files installed by the 1.4b patch and subsequent mods are left behind, to cause problems for the next unsuspecting install.

I got some good news, after uninstalling and defragging the hdd, I reinstalled SH3, patched it and ran it before installing GWX. It is now working just fine.

Now to install GWX.:D
