Check Your User Accounts
I have found a boogeyman in my User Accounts. It seems I have an account I never created, but MS does without you knowing it. Done so when you download and install Netframework 1.1, 2.0 or 3.0.
It's called: ASP.NET Machine A..... Limited user Account Password protected Explained here: http://www.mvps.org/marksxp/WindowsXP/aspdot.php And better info here: http://forums.computeractive.co.uk/t...751686򷡆 Seeing I have gaming programs that require NetFramework 1.1 and 2.0, I have reservations on deleting it. But in the second link it explains more on what happens and if it's safe to do so. Bye bye ASP.NET Machine A..... account. I've deleted the account and have no problems. Note too that some users have them intstalled but the account was never created. I wonder to if this happens with Netframework installed on Vista. |
Very interesting. :hmm:
That second link,to the forum, gave me an HTTP ERROR: 404 though. :( |
That account is harmless, itīs actually a security feature. If you are paranoid you can remove it, itīs only needed for very special environments, like certain web servers.
|
The account wasn't created in any malicious way. It's there to run .net executables and was created when you installed Microsoft's .NET Framework (click start->control panel->add remove programs to verify if you like).
You can easily delete the account, but your ASP.net reliant apps will cease to function. |
