Hull integrity in GWX

Just out of curiosity, I have loaded GWX and noticed that the hull integrity % is no longer on the damage management screen. Was that intentional? It would be helpful since I got my type 9 shot up, fixed the damage, dove to evade, and the boat crushed at 140 meters.

Thanks

Yes, that's intentional.
If you want it back, get the latest SH3Commander...it has an option to enable it again.

I find the % hull deal kind of a gimme'. How would an engineer know what the exact hull % is? He would not. All he could do is make recommendations to dive deep or not.I was hoping the GWX team could come up with a hull integrity of "good" "fair" "no way in hell would I dive" type deal instead of the exact %. Just a little more realism. Anyway, I've got bitten by the no hull integrity % showing:oops:

Good idea there... problem is that on one hand it is right to say they wouldn't be good enough to tell exactly, on the other it is surprising they would be so stupid they don't have any clue...
I think it's the same problem with range given by WO : it's too much he can give a range precise to the meter, it's not enough he can't say anything at all.
So each player makes a choice according to his own taste...

True!

I like the hull integrity showing because IMO there would be some kind of understanding as to what damage had been sustained....(if not a really accurate one) :yep: :arrgh!:

Thats the discussion. If we are given a figure that is exact, it is not realistic. My thoughts were just a best guess response from engineer. You as the captain make you best decision on this. If I know the hull is at 10%, I will know a kid with a straw and a spit ball of paper is going to sink me. If I know the hull is in 'fair shape', the possiblity of water breaching is a very real matter. It is up to me to decide how deep to go at that point. Either we make it or I end up killing all crew.

I have ben playing with no hull integrity, but based on your arguments, i admit it's foolish to play not having any idea of the shape of your boat, so i will be enabling this option next campaign.

You also have the randomisation of crush depth to take into consideration :yep:

For me, I like not having the hull integrity showing. Reason being is this(probably the reason I do not finish patrol #2:oops:), under the water, DC creating flooding, the engineers can look at the inside of the hull. They can not look at the outside...not until the boat is surfaced. Generally, they are making an educated guess as to what the boat can take. He will never be 100% sure of what the boat can handle. We are given a % for hull integrity that is giving you an exact measurement. You then base you decision on this. Not too realistic to me. If you have been DC'd quite a bit, a lot of flooding and repairs...you can deduce that the hull is not in the best of shape. Transit home,no further attacks on escorted vessels and no deep diving is in order. This is your decision as the Captain. It is this small room of doubt that make it just a little more exciting and realistic to me.

At this time all we have is hull integrity scale on or off. There is no inbetween. So it all is a matter of taste concerning this scale.:yep:

Fair comment.....let the individual make their own choice :yep:

Well, yes...there is that;). I do not use the % scale for hull. I just use my intuition and how bad I just go my butt kicked.:dead:
