Favorite new feature?

I'm really looking forward to the battle replays. Mentioned in daily dev answers on the official site:

A: Besides improving the save game system, we have also added a replay system that allows you to view the action - movie style - after it's done.
Hopefully these can be saved and viewed outside the game too :arrgh!:

What is everyone else looking forward to?

Probably the even more dynamic campaign

And the water effects of course

Specifically, just the fact that it's the Pacific for me. I'm also looking forward to using a historically correct stadimeter on the periscope along with the TDC. Both of those will help me with manual firing solutions because I suck at doing it in SH3.

However, if I had to pick a specific improvement over SH3, I'd say the new crew management system and the ability to set watch rotations. I hated turning off fatigue but I was annoyed at the level of baby sitting it took to keep my crew going.

Well, although I'm still not convinced 100% it's implemented, if in fact it is, my vote goes to widescreen support (yeah, it's a big deal to me).

If that the above doesn't count as a feature, I'd have to say I love the translucent water effect. Simply stunning.

As mentioned already, the crew manegement system looks very well done. I am looking forward to the radio coming alive this time around. Oh . . and watching my periscope go up and down, over & over on long patrols.

Hey now! This is a family based community. ;)

I'm looking forward to the hula dancers.

I'm looking forward to warm Pacific waters, tropical breezes, and tan beautiful women on liberty

I'm tired of the cold North Atlantic water, frigid winds, and unhappy home ports

LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL :up::up:

Besides everything already mentioned, I'd have to say the visual damage to ships. The ugly black smudges in SHIII never really did it for me.

This has improved somewhat, have you seen this.

For SH4, the new water looks amazing.

Being on the winning side for once. You get the good hi-tech gadgets before the enemy does. :p

Favorite SHIV Feature

Generic merchants, and a wider variety of warships.

Hopefully, those generic merchants will have variable tonnages like in AOD or DftD, but I am not holding my breath.:-? I'm still happy with what we are getting though.:arrgh!:

The hole engine has been tweaked, the water effects improved A LOT, and I like that. Other than eye-candy, I'd say more customisable subs and improved damage model.

Crew management and special missions, so far. There's a lot, but those are the two that I think will make a very substantial gameplay improvement.

Having a Chief Engineer who looks like Abe Lincoln
