Downloading GWX
Well, I'm finally ready to slip out into the murky waters of the North Sea, but I'm having problems downloading GWX:
Tried to do it in one go: 1. Torrent is down. 2. Jeuxdeguerre has no download link I can find. 3. Gameshadow looks a possibility, but I don't like the talk in its FAQ about having to disable my firewall for it run. Can it be easily uninstalled once you've downloaded GWX? As far as downloading the files seperately goes, the only site that will work for me is Megaupload, but BIN-3 doesn't work: two of the linked files are listed as corrupted, while one is actually BIN-4. Any help would be much appreciated, as I'm very keen to try the mod. |
try downloading through file front

I tried that, but all I get is the message: "Your download has failed. You have an invalid session set.", whatever that is.

Click on the link in my signature and take them from there:up:

Same problem, I'm afraid.

No, same again. I thought it mught be something to do with the DAP download manager, but disabling it made no difference.

EDIT: Do you have limited bandwidth/download? If you do so there is a chance that you cannot download it as the files are quite big. The problem must be on your end as I can download my stuff from Filefront |
Ok, thanks for the quick responses.
Could it be a firewall/cookies issue or some such? |
Try running Adaware to remove spyware www.lavasoft.de
You may have a cookie or browser hijack getting in the way. |
Ran adaware and spybot for good measure.
Turned up a few things as usual, but still no dice with Filefront :-? EDIT: Melnibonian: I have broadband, and have downloaded everything except BIN-3 from Megaupload. Unfortunately there doesn't seenm to be a working version of the file there. |
Disabling your download manager may not be enough, you may have to uninstall it completly. Also try different levels of security settings of internet explorer.
I have no idea for sure, but there are some more things to try. You did the update on the adaware definitions didnt you. You could also try a delete of your internet cache files, and mabe as a last resort a delete of your cookies anyway. (You will lose your forum logins if you delete your cookies so beware) |
Ok thanks, I'll have another go tomorrow and play around with the settings. Too damn secure for my own good I suppose!
Yes, Adaware was updated. Thanks again for your help one and all. |

Ha!
Sorted it. Had the same problem with Mediafire - just got a message about firewalls and cookies - so I tried plan F version 1.07b instead. In other words I used Firefox instead of Explorer, and it worked a treat first time from Filefront. Thanks again lads for all your help and tips. BTW, this is a very active forum - I couldn't believe how far down I had to scroll to get back to this thread! Am now all set to sink a few pesky battleships :arrgh!: . It may be some time before I'm back on the forum.... |
