Attacking Convoy With Bernard
16 February 1941. U-103
At night, rough seas, depth of water 80 meters. We approach convoy at PD. A black Swan heads toward our position at slow speed, which makes me nervous. I have one torpedo set and ready to go. The Black swan closes to 150 meters, apparently unaware of our presence. I watch the sloop get nearer through the scope. To make sure it is working, Bernard presses the firing button. Whoosh, torpedo Loooos! :dead: Apparently unaware of Bernard's brilliant launch. The Black Swan continues on its course and passes within fifty meters of U-103. 10 minutes later I fire two torpedoes at a large cargo and one at a medium one. Both ships sink. :smug: Even with Bernard's screams as I tried to throttle him, the escorts never bothered us. :rotfl: :rotfl: |

Warhawk is also in the area. Damn near enough to start a flotilla. Gotta make sure we don't shoot torpedoes at each other :sunny: |
Bernard has the power to come back to life, I should know the times I killed him for his errors.
|
I have prevented some of Bernards intervention with the use of a small flat-head screwdriver.
And removed the secondary Enter/Return key. :stare: |
Confession
 OK, this is what really happened--Situation as described. My game gets a bit jerky near convoys and cursor difficult to place in correct position. So I had the cursor over the firing button. Click, whoosh, oh sh*t!
Glad we have Bernard, the most useful officer in SHIII/GWX. :yep: |

Were you using GWX? Because I can think of only two words to relate to a situation like that. Death, and tears :rotfl:

@Brag yes the IX will fit just nicely in the creek. In fact a whole flotilla will fit along with the Bizmark. Not deep enough to submerge but we leave at nightfall! Just in case, we drop some crabbing nets and trolling lines like we are fishing. No one will know the difference;) |
LOL.. I'm up here in Bear, Delaware near Elkton MD. And come this spring I plan on visiting the Aberdeen Proving Gounds. Heck, maybe we can all meet there some weekend. Or better yet, you guys meet me at MAAM for the WWII Weekend the first weekend in June.
