Icebergs and ice
 

I've seen icebergs in movies made by community members, but I've never seen one in SH3. I went all the way up to Greenland once, in February... I assumed it'd soon be impossible to advance, but I got all the way to Greenland and even checked out here green grass. So, where are icebergs to be found? And shouldn't there be an ice barrier in the northern atlantic in the winter?

In the stock SHIII sim, ice/icebergs are only modeled and seen when playing the single missions. The campaign never received the "finished product" of having ice floes in the northern regions.

And what about with GWX, which is what I play. No ice either?

Yes there is icebergs in GWX. Look in the humor photos sticky at the top of the page and look at the post for the 31st of January to see some.

The only thing you get for sinking them is some ice cubes!

I once found an Iceberg on Sept.12, 1943 at AE828 (playing GWX). Pretty exciting. Shows up like a ship contact, but without sound in the hydrophone, of course. If there hadn't been storm, I'd had fired some shots at it for gunnery training. ;)

I've never seen an iceberg in GWX or GW, but hope dies last as they say:cry:

Are those shots real?? If so I gotta take my U-78 to the Greenland next winter.

That's true but they tend to appear in areas with minimal traffic. I'm on my way to the Carribean for some pina coladas and some juicy Tankers;) :D

hope you're not wasting your time then. for two reasons:

1. No icebergs in that area. belive me: I was there not too long ago, didn't find a single one! (not that I really searched for them down there....)

2. If it's too close the americans joining in the war, you won't find much traffic....I didn't.......:shifty:
