Really, if I had vista right now i would still keep XP on another drive or partion and have duel boot, MS operating systems are a nightmare for the first 6 months to 1 year of their release - this a fact. My advice is dont be too hasty to ditch XP all together just yet.
Why only have one when you can have both?

Ok, I can't read that. It needs some periods first

As far as Vista goes, I'll wait at least 1,5 years just as I did when XP came out. Leaks, patches, updates... oh well, you know. The usual Microsoft way ;)

Spot on Vista is a hackers paradise at the moment more holes in it than a leaky bucket, wait and be patience. ;)

LtCmdr,
Try this:
Install SHIII on your new machine, using the DVD that does not contain Star-Farce and then install and patch to 1.4b on an XP machine of one of your friends.
Run the Star-Farce removal tool.
Copy that Data folder to your Vista machine after you delete the data file from the Vista machine.
Install GWX.

Everyone has lots of time before needing to have Vista.
There will be huge firms, small firms and other business's around the globe that will continue to use XP until Vista is proven itself and is unbugged .That, is most certainly going to take some time with numerous fix's and service packs.
It's the little guy like me and you that can get hurt installing a brand new OS. Especially gamers. I have a number of titles sitting on my shelf that will not run on XP.Some of them not that old,so be careful.
If you were supervising a whole integrated system for your company would you switch over to Vista next week or next month? Not if you valued your job and wanted to keep it.
I do believe that Microsoft is offering inititives to computer companies to load the Vista OS on new machines for sure.Someone has to be the guinnypig.I think if one has a machine with just the home basics it will probably be ok for now, but other than that watch out.Vista is definitely going to go through it's growing pains.Just like Windows 95,98,2000,and XP.Hopefully, all for the best.:D

Because if you purchase an upgrade version of Windows Vista to upgrade XP, you will no longer be able to use that version of XP. Either on another system, or as a dual-boot option. The key will be invalidated, preventing activation.

Then Im sorry to say -thats what you get for purchasing crappy upgrade disks - they are too much hassle in the long run, for example; have you tried installing win98 on modern machine (with SATA drives) then upgrading to XP? Its no fun believe me.
Always get the full version, or you will regret it later on. :yep:

Just like prior to the initial launch of XP there are countless people out there doing 'the business' on Vista. :yep:
Have a little patience and let it 'settle in' first just like XP did :yep:
You'll be much better off in the long run

Vista should have been named "Swiss Cheese" with all the holes in it. Really I think ole "Bill" just wants MORE $.
