LWAMI V3.05---Database QuickFix Now Available!!!

In an epic noob maneover, I totally fubared the SW Hull sonar when making a simple edit. So here is the quickfix to that problem. Thank you to Bellman for pointing this out.

I've fixed the SW Hull Sonar problem and lowered the sensitivity of the SW WAA array, per Bellman's suggestions, since I think that's probably a good idea. It shouldn't be a "sub-o-finder" but rather help with situational awareness in high density contact environments.

It'll still easily register most surface traffic within range, but it won't be as effective against submarines, especially in high noise situations.

Here is the quickfix readme:

LWAMI v3.05 SW Sonar QuickFix

Note: The FULL LWAMI v3.05 is necessary. Install this OVER the original v3.05 distribution. To install, unzip to the "Database" directory in your main DW folder.

This is a quickfix for LWAMI 3.05 that fixes the SW Hull sonar problem and also updates the SW WAA array sensitivity to what will be the future standard in the LWAMI Mod.

NOTE for JSGME users: To install to the JSGME version of LWAMI, disable the mod, and unzip the quickfix folder to the "mods/LWAMI_v305/Database" directory.

PS There is a chance that Bill won't be able to post this to his site for a little while, so please spread the word around to your friends.

Luft wolf ,can you re-engineer the .05 version with this fix?

LuftWolf 01-31-07 08:26 AM

I can, but to avoid confusion, I am going to leave things as they are for now, and simply come out with version 3.06 with actual upgrades in a week or two.

For people that already have 3.05 installed, this is actually much easier than having a whole new distribution to deal with, and for people installing 3.05 fresh, it is a very simple step to apply the fix.

Cheers,
David

Guys,
I am on business travel this week and won't be able to upload 3.05 (or anything else) to my site before the weekend. Sorry.

Just a quick question regarding LWAMI v3.05. Are the LWAMI mod and the enhanced models mod independent of each other or does one require the installation of the other? I normally use the JSGME version to install LWAMI but from what I have read this will only activate/deactivate the LWAMI part of the mod and a separate installation routine is required for the models (like SCX you had to run a separate file to install the graphics or it wouldn't work). My reason for asking is when future versions of LWAMI are released and I deactivate the current version of LWAMI to install the new version will this mess up my DW install because the older version of the models is still installed?

Any views appreciated.

Question RE:new 3-D models

I have a question re. new models (LWAMI 3.05). I did everything as instructed by readme, copy/pasted Graphics folder into my default DW folder (adding new files to original Graphics folder), ran installgfx, computer showed that CMD screen with command lines «decompressing – cmputil – done!» ...but when I started DW it turned out that all models remained the same.

I'm not new to computers, and I'm 100% sure that I didn't do anything wrong, or maybe I did?... anyone had that same problem?

Just to mention, it's stock DW with 1.04 patch, fresh install (did it just to be sure), no additional mods or previous LWAMI's installed.

Thnx in advance

p.s. I was soooooooo pleased to see that there is a new model for Typhoon, loaded USNI to check it out immediately, and...there was that same old UGLY grey skin. Boo-hoo......

BobbyZero 01-31-07 02:08 PM

A-ha! I know where I screwed up...

No help needed, I found out where I screwed up re: 3-D models...dear god, new Typhoon looks FANTASTIC.

Adding the new graphics are a two part process. First the graphics have to be added to the 3-d archive for the game, and second those new graphics have to be referenced in the database.

Once the models are added to the 3-d archive, they are in there for good. If you use the JSGME version of the mod to restore stock DW, the original database that references the original graphics in the archive will be used, so the models will go back to the stock models.

For future versions of LWAMI, if there are no new graphics added, it will not be necessary to update the graphics archive again. When we do add new graphics, the same installation procedure can be followed again, only with the new graphics included as well, without causing a problems.

So in other words, you don't have to worry about it, it should be seamless from an end-user point of view.

Cheers,
David

LWAMI v3.05 QuickFix II

Note: The FULL LWAMI v3.05 is necessary. Install this OVER the original v3.05 distribution. To install, unzip to the "Database" directory in your main DW folder.

This is a quickfix for LWAMI 3.05 that fixes the following issues:

-the SW Hull sonar previously had the wrong geometry in the database and performed incorrectly in game. This has been corrected and it will now function as described in the Readme. Also, the sensitivity of the SW WAA array has been decreased somewhat.

-The Shkval now shutsdown properly when it has reached its maximum range.

NOTE for JSGME users: To install to the JSGME version of LWAMI, disable the mod, and unzip the quickfix folder to the "mods/LWAMI_v305/Database" directory.

 Very nice work David - the sonar feels just right now.Thank you for responding so quickly and effectively. :|\\

The whole mod with its excellent new graphics has supercharged my interest in DW and I guess a lot of us feel the same way. So let me say a big THANKYOU to all the team.
