Guns.dat
Which guns would most closely match a .50 cal and .30 cal
automatic? :hmm: |
well none really

in game for sub guns your choices are 20 mm or 37 mm for usable sub guns all you could really do to make a 30 or a 50 calibre is tweek these two guns with less power and range and a higher cyclic rate of fire to simulate a 50 or a 30 but there are no reasonable analogs for them in game as is. somewhere I probably have enough data to provide you with settings but to what end? and for what its worth twenty mm single in game feels closest to Real World Browning. MM |
The Weapons were used on the K-Ships of course.
A .50 cal, a .30 cal and usually a BAR. If I were to change the stock Guns .dat, all guns I tweak would be affected game wide right? Perhaps I need to add the guns? |
ooops

and ill get right back to you before I go back to work here. MM |
no good dude
as it stands your choices for AI guns arent much different
twenty mm for smallest mg type and 37 mm as before option is either 40mm bofors single or brit 2pdr pom pom niether of which really match so for just straight up swap with no gun ammo or rate changes your best choice is for twenty mm = .50 BMG unless you can figure a way to mount an Aircraft MG no other idea the pt boats look like they carry .303's but i think thats just a visual illusion as no .303 mg appeared in AI guns] sorry dude. as at the beginning of the war any gun that could point up was a good gun MM |

for my uber sub I isolated a single type for such changes. (not currently using method) MM |
@MM Being that guns are just a node, should be no problem using any
in game gun. @anz_132 Yep, Browning Automatic Rifle. As the K-Ships were mainly intended as a spotter they were not heavy weapons platforms. The danger was that they could spot the heck outta a sub and call in the real killers. From there position they could also see a sub that was submerged!! To what depth, I don't know...YET! |

Here is the final crew that will be viewable in game.

that while I was working up typeXI uberboot I was able to mount twin 4" on the sub but wasnt able to get AI guns working. so I have been sort of conditioned to think of them as seperate items Also I dont know how far down your kboat could see into the water it would depend on environmental conditions as I recall in the pacific IJN aircraft would report visible sightings usually down only to 50 or so feet and occasionally 70 or so MM |
Sounds about right on depth sightings but I doubt the game engine
will reflect that. AFAIK, AI_Visual can not "See" below the surface of the Ocean? Can I Mod one of the AI's to "See" 50 meters below? Would be cool! But I doubt it can be done. |
It is an Irony of war son

land and solid objects. Hope SH IV developers noticed. MM:|\\ |
One of my tests I put DD's on one side of a land area, my sub on the other.
Don't remember where but it was great fun to watch the DD's run aground over and over till they sunk trying to get to me!!:rotfl: AI is not smart enuff to go around!!! SO, does AI stand for Artificial Intelligence or Actually Ignorant!!! |
