Frustration is...
Having a lightly escorted* Revenge Battleship cross less than 2,000 yards in front of you.
When you have no eels left. And your HF antenna is busted, so you can't call it in, either. June 30th, 1940 - 16:12 Berlin time. Grid Square AF73 *I can see four escorts: Two C class, a Hunt I, and a J class. |
Engine room - Set ramming speed!
N.O. - Set course for ammo bunker! TALLY HO!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: What's the matter man, you have a deck gun don't you? That said, I feel your pain.:p |
What's wrong with loading them bananas :o
They're not hanging about waiting to ripen you know!! :rotfl: |
Turn flustration into fun...
Surface close, and I mean close to the battleship. Then engage an escort with your deck gun. The escort will return fire against you but in all probability hit the battleship.
This is where the fun happens... Now the batttleship will engage the escort that just fired on it "With great vengenance and furious anger" sending the poor thing airborne. The battleship will not engage you because your too close, I mean close! If your really lucky the other escorts will attempt to avenge their by now sunken comrade and also hopelessly engage the battleship, resulting in yet more flying and diving destroyers. OK none of this is particularly realistic but it will make you feel better and it's fun to watch the games AI tying itself in knots. Sorry I have'nt yet worked out how to get for and aft turrets on the same vessel to engage each other. |

If you don't get really close then this plan goes horribly wrong.
Then this course of action then belongs in the stupid ideas thread:rotfl: |

It did belong to the stupid ideas thread from the very start mate, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't try it. there is just one small problem...... You won't get the credit for it.... unlessssssss...................you take care of the BB with the deckgun when it's damaged enough. Talk about a story to tell the lads when you get back to port!:rotfl: |
Have tried it...
It works... But you don't get any renown for it. Oh and make sure you dive again next to the battleship, 16 inch guns somewhat dent your hull :rotfl: |

I had the Duke of F'ing York off my port bow on a perpenduclar track. Range was 1200 meters, pefect 90 degree firing point. I missed. Scuse me while i go hide now. |

I was coming back from a moderately successful patrol, and I had shot all my eels. The BB was on what was close to a 90 degree track, and a scant 2,000 meters away. None of the escorts saw me because of the weather. Yet, there was nothing I could do about it. I think from now on I am going to save a couple of fish just in case. |
