So, you think you can play guitar, do you?
I'm not very up to date with this youtube thing, but after having had an exploratory browse I thought you lot would like to see these vids. I can see some record purchases in the near future...:up::yep:
Anyways, enough of me, watch and listen then see all your dreams of being a musician crumble to dust in the face of such talent as these... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ddn4MGaS3N4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cvar4ZsqsEo&NR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySCDWs_fJWo&NR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f27megLOleQ&NR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yu0Fj...elated&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x302-rp_efQ&NR I understand one of the comments for the last link above: Quote:

very excellent work, but I have my doubts on the second to last one.  :o

That's a really cool technique! Thumbs up to the guy, I'd like to get one of his records now
To contribute to the thread, I raise you... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TevyOLsDqw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1FgRpSlgh8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CfuSkj5rmo My dad :p (he's an acoustic guitarist for a living (and has been for 25 years), if that says anything) |

Don`t be alarmed, you don`t have to be a virtuoso. If you have a decent singing voice, keep a steady rhythmn and can entertain people it`s more than enough to get joy of your playing. Guitar for me is all about having fun and playing/singing with other people. No need to sell our guitars even if we get impressed and appreciate virtuosos like these.

I see your acoustic, traditional types, and raise you:

There are always going to be players better than you or I, unless your name happens to be Andres Segovia, Chet Atkins or Stanley Jordan. And yet how many have never heard of three of the greatest who ever played. Jordan especially; he playes the guitar like it's a piano, tapping with all eight fingers.

Has anyone ever accused any of the Beatles of being truly great solo musicians? Good, yes; great, no. |

Hey Steve have to agree with you there. I remember Stanley Jordon. Brother had an LP I was only 9 or so, and thought wow. the way he tuned his guitar so it plays more like a piano.
I might just get my guitar from my folks house, tune it up and start learning to play it again. |
