Mod Request - Built in custom skin changer
There are so many fantastic skins out there that it's hard to decide on which I'd like.
I would LOVE to see someone make some kind of mod where I download all the skins I like and then the mod randomly applies these skins to your uboat after every x times in port or whenever you change boats. Or even better: the historical skin applicator mod. Here uboat skins would change and become more weathered as the war progresses. Is this even possible and/or would anyone be willing to make it? Thanks, M ________ Live sex |
I'm no expert in the workings of SH3Cmdr but I think that you can do this through the use of the date specific folders in SH3Cmdr. You will be able to get a good idea of what is doable in Cmdr from the readme.
Someone might come along and explain it better. |
Otherwise, it should be possible for someone hex-savvy to make the Uboat dats multi-skinnable.
|
If anyone knows how this works in SH3Cmdr then I would like to learn.
2 reasons really, the first is date enabled skins the second...well, let's just say I'm tired of that bloody band:x. Will someone please step up and write a layout or TUT. Please. |
Where is JScones when we need him...:-?

Install JSGME in SH3 Commander. Then put all your Skins in this folder structure.
Sub Skins/Random/(put all skins in a diferrent numbered folder from zero on up to however many skins you have(example 0 - 12))/Date/19390901/Data/(then where ever your sub skins go(example Textures/Tnormal/tex or Submarine). Then slap that whole mess inside the Mods folder just like you would in the SilentHunterIII folder. You can also add anything you want in there in another folder in the SH3 Cmdr JSGME such as Intro Screens, Pin-up Girls, or Crew Skins just to name a few. I have found using the Random folder very entertaining. |

With it you can (separately or combined): - "age" skins using the "Date" folders (but remember, u-boats were regularly cleaned and painted between patrols. A tradesman does not use rusty tools ;)) - change skins using the "Date" folders (ie to simulate the application of different camo/paint schemes throughout the war) - provide Flotilla specific skins using the "Flotilla" folders (ie Med camo for 29 Flotilla, Arctic colours for 11 Flotilla etc) - provide randomised skins via the "Random" folder (well, why is what I'd ask, but still, if you wanted to...) - provide u-boat variation-specific skins via the "U-boat" folder (ie, VIIC/41 skins that only show on VIIC/41 boats) So it's already there, just waiting for you or someone to utilise. ;) Indeed, this is really no different than doing a multi-ship skin pack. And yes, danlisa, you can use the "Random" folders to randomise the farfara.wav file. ;) And using Tuddley3's brainwave idea, you can even feed more skins in and out of SH3Cmdr. |
Yes!:D Thank you JS & Tuddley3.
I'm going to be busy this weekend. |
