OT..WIP of my latest drawing

it shows Ginger Lacey during the Battle of Britian and is pencil on 300gsm smooth card, A2 in size , when complete it's being entered into this years annual exhibition of the Guild of Aviation Artists { if it gets selected lol }..still has about 4-5 weeks work in it yet but please feel free to comment on anything that 'doesn't look right' :)

Fantastic!!! I've always liked art in pencil or charcoal. To me it has more
warmth and depth. I'm no artist but, I know what I like. Good Luck

Other than the need for a good orthodontist, that's very impressive.

Rated very very highly says i!

where did you get the image to draw from, a photo?

Torplexed 01-17-07 08:38 PM

Exquisite work! I never had the patience for that kind of intricate detail. Are you using a stump for the blending and shading?

TteFAboB 01-17-07 10:06 PM

I predict his flight-suit will take you about 3 entire pencils.

Looks incredible. Put an old photograph next to it and you can't tell which one is which.

Thanks folks, I used an a4 size photo from a book and scaled it up without any gridding etc {final size is about 30" x 25" approx}, just by eye.
Blending stumps and torllions are the tools of the trade for me :)...with the card its harder to get a smooth blend, but the surface doesn't wear or smudge as easy and it leaves a more realistic look once completed .

a bit more work done , hands are complete, as is the silk scarf, now onto the other side of the body and then finalise with strengthing of tones and a tidy up of the surround...:)

then get a better photo of the bloody thing lol
