Luftwaffe in GWX.....
Had a strange thing happen to me in a mission, 1943 Med, ran into a convoy, heavily escorted, was able to sink one ship and a possible wounding two others before the DD’s drove me down. A storm came thru and after several hours I went to periscope depth, no sign of anything, so I started to go in the direction of where I thought the convoy went. Soundman started to pick up a merchant, I spotted a ship that fallen behind, I lined him up and as I took a shot a DD came rushing in. I dove again and waited (still in a storm). The escort left the area, I surfaced and there sat the wounded ship with it’s stern in the water. At this time I had no more fish to shoot and it was too rough to man the guns, so I waited and waited, a day and a half. As the weather started to clear up and right before the guns were manned, I hear the noise of a plane, no warning from the watch so I figure it must be friendly, we are in what I would call friendly waters. But I see the plane taking a run for us, cash dive, taking hits as we go down. Seconds under the water I hear more gunfire from the plane then bombs going off, but we seem not to be the target. I use the special scope to take a look. The plane is now sinking my wounded ship.
Now was it a German plane that at first mistook me or did he come into the fight and chase off another plane??? I don’t know

In 1.1a my crew would call out the aircraft whether Allied or friendly. The call them out in GWX as well. I do not know why your boys are mute. I really do not know if the Luftwaffen and the Allies duke it out in the air or not.

I think aircraft do shoot each other in GWX...

So can an aircraft mistake the identity of a u-boat, I know we are not the only ones out there, if so……....….that would be great modding:-? (programming)
