MissionBuilderFastLoading mod Release

Silent Hunter III (C)2005
UBISOFT ENTERTAINMENT. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
(SHIII)
Welcome to Mission Builders Fast Load Mod version 1.0 Beta release.( MBFL v1.0)
MBFL v1.0 is Freeware and as such may be shared feely by all but must never be
used in any way for profit. Activation of MBFL v1.0 in your game will be taken as
indicitive that you have fully read this. User assumes all risks to equipment and
Software. Writer assumes no liability for same. Every effort has been made to
ensure that this mod is harmless to your game and system and virus free at
the time of release. MBFL v1.0 is freeware and as such the writer can not assume
the integrity of the mod files after release. User assumes all responsibilty for
ensuring file isnt corrupt at the point of downloading it to there system from any
other system.
Warning : This mod will prevent you making
any enemy contacts in, or even launch your
campaign game While it is still active in
JSGME!.

MBFL mod was designed specifically for helping people who build missions and have
to frequently leave the game and jump back in again and again to test mission"feel, timing,
effects etc."MBFL will likely help people who, want to change things and test them while
moddingSHIII as well.
How it Works.
The amount of time when you are loading SHIII (the game itself) will not be effected or
reduced in any way.
The amount of time it takes to load your mission up after your in the game will be
significantly reduced.
here's how. when you initiate MBFL in JSGME what it does is it goes into the Campaign layers
file and removes all the Units in the entire war from them. these layers are layed down by SHIII
prior to your mission going into the game when you play a single mission. this is why you
always run into units you never programed into yourmission. for the serious mission building
types if you play with MBFL installed then you wont have any units that you didnt put in yourself.
When you deactivate it in JSGME it puts all The layers back in the campaign files and off you go
back to play your current campaign game. It takes seconds to do this in the mod enabler and
reduces by minutes for some, the amount of time it takes to load a mission after your in the SHIII
in game Single Missions Menu.
MBFL will work with and is likely harmless to most SH3 Versions and isGWX (tested).
MBFL will not harm your campaign game or saves or in any way effect your game after it
is disabled.
Your mission built using MBFL will work in any version of SHIII that matches the one you built
the mission in. ( user must have same ships etc loaded in thier game as author puts in the mission )
For those who find themselves jumping into and out of SHIII to fix and change things this is for you.
it will give you something of value time, time to either spend with your family or maybe polish the
cannonball in the usual number of hours but with an extra one or two buffings.
MBFL will not directly enhance your fun but it may reduce your aggravation enjoy.

as my first mod I think that reducing the amount of loading time to
test things and play non randomized missions was a good priority.

its probably the simplest mod in the history of sh3 though.

I remember you talking about this mod, can't believe I did not see the thread.
Again, well done:up:

I voted yes, most helpful when someone wants to tinker with tweaking settings on a trial-and-error basis. Thanks a lot!

Mush Martin 06-22-07 09:41 AM

thanks for the feedback dcb i appreciate it.

Haven't tried this yet but looks like a real time saver. Why don't you add this to mission forum's FAQ so this work wouldn't be buried and forgotten?

Mush Martin 12-23-07 08:04 AM

indeed a good suggestion Jimmie.

Yes, MM. I think it's a very useful tool. Saves a lot of time when making tests or trying mods.

Well for the record for those of you who dont visit the shIII player forum
often

I loaded a test mission in GWX 2.0 in 37 seconds this morning.

Wow, this would be useful in SH4 as well. Great idea!

In SH4, you could simply take each

GameModes=SingleMission,SinglePatrol,Career,Multip layer Cooperative,Multiplayer

entry and remove the SingleMission from it in Campaign.cfg (cept maybe the ports, and map labels (Campaign_LOC and Campaign_NMS)

1 file.

Warning I have been advised that MBFL mod may
conflict with native gwx missions so until tested assume
they conflict.
MM

(GWX2.0 that is 1.03 was fine)

This is great, Mush. Thanks! I hate waiting for the loading while playtesting. It's a real time saver for us modders.

My pleasure there Sakura I built it, if you can call it that, for the very same
reason.
