Dare you cross the street in a straight line?
As it's friday and I found this slightly amusing:

I wonder why we don't have this in the UK... oh right, a sense of personal responsibility and common sense! (supposedly) Some of the comments are classic. Quote:
I can understand dawdling across a busy road being frowned upon, but being wrestled to the ground by 5 officers of the law does seem a bit much. Have any of you yankee doodles had your collars felt by the law for something like this or other equally bizzare public orders? |
As far as I can tell jaywalking is a regional thing in the US. Here in Chicago, and pretty much the entire midwest from my experience, you can walk where and when you want across a street, and unless you are being life threateningly stupid the cops don't care at all. I've never even heard of anyone getting a jaywalking ticket in Illinois before. From what I have heard and seen however, the same is most certainly not true in some other parts of the country.:hmm:

I was protecting my family ... I had just pulled my knife from the third "Hoodlem's" ribs... the first 2 were crawling away with severe wounds... when wham!!! 2 policemen tackled me from behind... no warnings just jumped me... in the dark I thought it was more "Hoodlems" ... I don't fight fair ya know so it took a third policeman shooting me before I was brought under-arrest... the 3 "Hoodlems" were taken to the hospital and treated while I passed out from loss of blood in the waiting room... the 2 Police officers are recovering nicely:sunny:
