Modding GWX files, which one?

I just the other day did a full uninstall & reinstall of the game so that I could play with the GWX mod. So far it is a lot more difficult then the stock game and that is fine, but I do want to mod some aspects back to the way they were in the stock game like I had them set up :-)

One in particular is to allow me to have type 5 torps in the bigging of the war. In the stock game I would mod the basic file in the backup folder (I run the SH Commander mod) and that would accomplish that.

I did the same to the basicGWX file in the backup folder but I am still stuck with type I & II torps. I looked for all basic files in the game, modded them all and still no luck :-(

Can someone point me to where I need edit?

Thanks, and great mod!!

Scott

Reading some past posts, I do not recommend changing anything because, as I read it, one change in values can screw up all the other values and make GWX a mess on your hard drive.

simsurfer...

On the download section of this website, for SH3, there is a utility called "tweek" that will allow you to alter your sub loadout. It works from the root directory of SH3 as a seperate program. GWX works fine with it.

I can see maybe T3's...but T5's????:o

If you want to change GWX files, I would suggest you have a chat with the GWX devs. The mod is HUGE and all the files are interlinked. That means that if you change one thing something else might get damaged later on in a different file. Obviously it's up to you, but if you want to be 100% sure that your modded GWX is working fine you need to check out all these details. Good Luck:up:

While I mean no disrespect, (well maybe a little!:rotfl: ) changing the fish to type V at the beginning is as real as adding nuke sub to the game.
However, to each his own.
You can simply go the cfg folder open the basic file in notepad and change the date for the typeV from 1943 to 1939 with prototype month no later than 8. Then find the type boat you use (also in the basic file) and change all the torpedoes to "5" and you will have your version of unreality.
It may be wrong, IMO, but if you enjoy it then it is right for you.

You can tweak the files in GWX, but you really have to have a firm understanding of the file structure and the changes done in GWX. Some files you can outright replace with your own version without breaking something, other files you have to use their version if you want to tweak it, and other files your just better off leaving alone.

I'd explain my understanding of the directory structure (as good or bad as my understanding may be), but it's just have the inclination to write a 12 page essay.

If you just want to tweek what fish your sub has get the tweek file you can have anything form T1's to T XI's in your tubes from 39 to the end of war.
