Piccadilly, The Whistle Blowing Funker
 

In civilian life, Piccadilly was a ham operator. He continues to communicate with his radio friend, Sven, in Malmo, Sweden.

. . . Ja, the last patrol was a bit of a mess up when that ship blew up and caused us to roll over. What the Kaleun failed to mention in his report was the meeting we had with a sloop. Ja, a sailing yacht. The Limeys aboard the pleasure craft, waved as we approached and invited the captain for a drink. In return, he gave them a tour of U-49. It was all pretty jolly.

As we left them behind, they still waved and wished us a bon voyage. They didn't know the war had started.

My watch is almost up. Next time I'll tell you about the trawler we've met earlier today.
