[MOD Release] Integrated TDC & Slideout Compass for GWX
Integrated TDC & Slideout Compass for GWX V1.0 Jan 06, 2007
Hello everyone, What is it? This mod is released by me since I found it impractical to always switch to the TDC screen to make torpedo adjustments, and because the tiny compass on the bottom in my opinion makes entering a precise heading extremely difficult. So I took the NYGM integrated TDC for the periscope and the UZO as well as Ottos' brilliant slideout compass and included them in one mod. In order to use the compass just move your mouse in the left top corner and it will slide out. In addition the small compass in the bottom was removed and substituted for a small stopwatch. It's visible in all screens and - like the dragable chronometer - starts only if you start it manually on the UZO or periscope screen, or fire a torpedo. Also included are low contrast periscope and UZO screens to make night vision easier. To make it clear. None of the mods were made directly by me and I don't want to take any credit for that. I merely combined the two mods because it makes my life in SH3 easier and I wanted to share that. For Credits see below. Installation: Just install it like you would any JSGME mod. This package also includes the original readme for the slideout compass by Ottos as well as a file that shows all modifications and additions that have to be made to include the slideout compass in anywhere else than GWX. If you're using SH3 with GWX you won't need this file. Known issues: - This mod is ONLY for use with SH3 in combination with GWX. It won't work with a vanilla SH3 installation. - The dragable chronometer will work but the needle won't be in the middle anymore. If anyone could help me with that, I'd be very grateful. - This mod is NOT compatible with any mod that changes either the menu_1024_768.ini or the dials.cfg files after GWX is installed! You will most likely experience problems or CTDs if you use it! Credits: Slideout Compass: Ottos (for more information see included original readme file) Integrated TDC: NYGM team Low contrast periscope and UZO screen: NYGM team Ducimus for helping me sort a few things out. Hi,
Do you still have files of this mod? I mean, extracted the slideout TDC part? If it's possible (and I really hope), can I have that? I'm playing GWX2 but missing the slideout TDC very much, but at the same time I'm integrating custom tweaked U-jagd tools so I want to have pure TDC part (4 dials from the top and torp setting square in AP, OP, and UZO). Thanks in advance... |
Hi Jimmie. Jep. I still got it. In fact I think I'm using it on GWX at the moment. Works fine for me.
I'm at work right now, and my computer's parts at home are spread on the floor because I'm building up a new system and still missing a new midi tower. However as soon as I got everthing running and copied over to the new system, I'll look into it. In case you don't hear from me till Saturday evening, just PM me or post here. I might forget :D |
Thanks a lot woof

No prob.
By the way: I just remembered that I'm currently using Poor Sailor's Favorite Dials Mod which also uses NYGM's TDC and FLBSale's 6-Dials Mod. Like this one even better! Works very well with GWX 2.0 |
I used to use customized FLBSale's 6-Dials Mod with NYGM. But with GWX2 now I want to minimize slide thing (one of the reason is I'm using widescreen monitor and that kills right side boundary (mouse cursor have to go beyond the edge of right side)).
Actually, I kinda wish there were almost no 2D interface and I were forced to operate in 3D, that'd give me more feeling of I'm actually in the sub with guys. So these days I try not to go to map screen as possible. I'm thinking to kill slideout gauge (fuel, battery, air report) so I'll have to check those things in 3D view. I really wish I could operate the telegraph in 3D and give coruse order via keyboard command. But TDC got to be fast accesible with current game UI for manual targeting. Map portion of the TDC screen is near useless as I'm turning automap off. The problem is, TDC will automatically stops when "unlocked" target unlike the real thing, and but I need very quick way to check or re-enter TDC value and thus that NYGM slideout dials are essencial...yeah, you know. I wish if I could do some plotting job on the map (separate from the "nav" map) or use that real estate for say, torpedo management ('I' function). FLBSale made TDC GUI mod after 6 dials which was also very cool but some of the TDC dials in the mod were a bit unnecessarily too big to my liking (I'm not aggressive enough to play in that hardcore looking interface ) So I thought about constructing a whole TDC based on his, but then (2 years ago) I didn't see much information about interface file and without knowledge of them it seemed it could be too much work that I couldn't afford, so. I wansn't playing SH3 for a year so didn't check what's been going on here but lately started again and found U-jagd tools or OLC GUI which is so nice for manual targeting. |

Can you guys hook me up with the mod! The link's down!:hmm: |
Congratulations Woof1701 for your mod. And I'm curently working on new version of "My favorite dials mod" for v.2.0. Must said that previous version for v.1.03 will work with v.2.0 but there is not 100% compatibility I must said because GWX v.2.0 have some changes in menu_1024_768.ini so stay tuned and after holidays you will have a new version. Sorry for I'm saying this in your thread Woof, but it's just as a information! Thanks!

This mod of mine is ancient - a year old - and I stopped developing it because of YOURS (and because noone had reacted to my Release announcement) *g* Looking forward to your new version. Thanks. |
