How do i switch periscope magnification to 6x in GWX?

I learned yesterday that the real magnification a U-boats periscope had in WW2 was 6x max, so i want to know what file do i have to change to enable this.

Sorry for my lazyness but I'm at work and I can't re-call all the correct details. However, I have dug up an old post from Marhkimov......

I find that I can use the mouse wheel to toggle to zoom level 10.

For instance, at the obs periscope I can scroll up once to go to 1x zoom. Then I can scroll up once more to go to 10x zoom.

To do this, all you have to do is use TT's mini tweek tool and change the camera.dat "optical" settings. You can do this for whichever instrument you want: UZO, obs peri, attack peri, binoculars. Go to the optical tab for the instrument and change the unknown values 1 and 2.

The first value will be the zoom level for the first wheel scroll. The second value will be the zoom level for the second wheel scroll. For instance, here are the default values for the obs periscope:

unknown value = 1
unknown value = 4

Change it to this:

unknown value = 1
unknown value = 10

And it will work

THE TRICK... is that you have to move the backup file that is created in data\library. It is called "Copy of Cameras.dat" and you cannot leave it in that folder or else it will override any changes you have made. Either move it out or put it in a sub-folder.
Timetravellers tools can be found here (remember to get the additional txt files)

If you still have trouble I'm online later tonight.....

Don't quote me, I think that is not possible.

However, some bright modder will come along and prove me wrong.:shifty:

The 10x was added as compensation because real life optics were better than an LCD...

You can also use the mouse-wheel, to change zoom (just like you can use it to use the binoculars).

Kumando isn't talking about switching back and forth between zoom levels. He wants to change the maximum zoom from 10x back to 6x. When I can play again I'll be wanting the same thing.
