Wolfpack!? --jaw drops--

I had to pause my patrol and come here. This is incredible!

Two days into my fourth patrol. It's 9 January 1941, and I've left St. Nazaire heading to BE59. My lookouts call out 'submarine spotted!'

Now, as they aren't calling it out like they did for the S-boat, I assume it's one of ours. And it is.

One of ours.

One of three, to be exact.

Three of them, on the surface, slicing their way, flak-engaging, through an unescorted convoy. (Yum!)

I've some screenies of them if anyone's interesting in seeing them. For now, I'm back to the fun! :D

(This is GWX, by the way)

Damn, another whole year I have to patrol.. kust in feb 1940.

There are wolf packs... But for safety's sake... Better dive and look through the periscope to see what the sub is... I havn't seen any hostile sub yet but there are some, as shown in GWX manual...

For a S-class or Gato, fire him and salvo and tell him

"YOU ARE FIRED"

I've already spotted, and sank, an S-class sub. :D

Ok, update on the patrol: 9 ships sank, most by deck gun. The entire convoy is sunk. Three were crippled by the wolfpack prior to my arrival (and even during). At least one of the U-boats has sustained damage: riding low at the stern and visibly damaged there, too. Leads me to believe they engaged and destroyed whatever escorts might have been present before I got there.

It was amazing having other U-boats about. And at this point in the war, having no escorts around, and having the merchants unarmed it was, well . . . shooting fish in a barrel. Gonna enjoy the 'Happy Times' while I can.

My understanding is that AI sub's will never go down. If they are surfaced, they stay that way. Would be nice though ;)

After a lacklustre patrol I decided to pay Freetown a visit and to my surprise, saw my prize target, the 24000 ton liner on fire and sinking as well as a couple of other ships. Could it have been these guys got ahead of me? GWX BTW.

Come on Albrecht...show them the goods

AS 01-02-07 01:23 PM

I thought AI subs cannot fire torpedoes/engage enemies, so how comes the AI subs you saw sank ships???:o

Slick Rick 01-02-07 01:36 PM

I think he is surmising it was them.....he arrived after the fact....
