Best GWX Patrol to date
This was my second patrol in my new career..started in Wilhelmshaven on November 8 1939 and was orderded to patrol grid BF15 in my TypeVIIb.
Was a pretty routing trip around the north of England when I picked up a lot of noise on the hydrophones during a late night check.Turned out to be a large convoy steaming NNW from the Irish Sea area. I could only see a single Black Swan escort which I quickly dispatched with a shot under the keel.I surfaced and started my attack on the convoy...during which a second Black Swan showed up from the other side of the convoy sending me down.He started searching and ended up firing at least 25 starshells as rapidly as his gun could fire them into the air Here is a screenshot of that. http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/1...ellsbp9.th.jpg During his starshell firing I managed to get a stern shot which sank him.And then finished the merchant next to him in the pic. After that I resurfaced and renewed the attack firing tubes and deck gun into the convoy. Was going well until another destroyer, type unknown as I did not bother to classify it showed up.I proceeded to dive away yet again and sit out a his search..he never found me and moved off to the NNE.You can see where he showed up in the pic of the map below by the gap between sinkings..this is where I had to wait for him to leave. I picked up the convoy again on the hydrophones and proceeded at flank speed to catch up.After I caught up it was like shooting fish in a barrel as they were completely unprotected now.Stayed on the surface firing tube after tube and shell after shell from my deck gun until the entire convoy was wiped out.Used the torpedoes to slow em down and the deck gun to finish em off. Now out of torpedoes and deck gun ammo I ignored my patrol grid orders and returned to base. Just a few shots of the results of my attacks... Map view of the convoys route and sinking locals http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/7...viewra5.th.jpg Patrol Log of ships sank http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/7703/page1xc9.th.jpg http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/7703/page1xc9.th.jpg Final tally back at base..54,868 tons sunk...2,500 for the 2 Black Swans and 52,368 for the 15 merchants http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/6...allycd9.th.jpg |

Now that's what I call GWX "realism"!
Good Job, folks!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: (No mistake, I love GWX eye candies hehe) |
Not very realistic tactict for that year, but a good show :D
|
Good god, man...did you take out the entire convoy yourself? :o
And I thought I was happy to get 10 ships sunk for 23k GRT! (pesky small merchants!) |

Was pretty easy once the 2 escorts were destroyed and the 3rd destroyer that came to the rescue left after I evaded him. After the 3rd destroyer pinned me down for a bit it took a little to catch back up to the convoy and finish them off.The sun was starting to come up as the last 2 were finished. |
Excellent... But how much realism did you use?
|
I believe it is around 84%...
The only things that are not checked is 1. No External Views..I keep these to get great screenshots. 2. No Weapons Officer...I keep him in use so he can do his job as he is supposed to..the capitan did not do all the work himself after all. |

I suggest you stay out of my threads if you can't do anything more than snipe at a person and troll for trouble as it wont work on me. I nor anyone else here has to answer to you and what your idea of what realism should be.Nor do I even want to hear about it.Your idea of realism is not my idea of realism.Realism is in the eye of the individual player.SO STFU about it and go pester someone else. You play the GAME your way I will play the GAME my way. |
