Amazing.. no. It would be amazing if was an original work. Thanks for the kind words though. Personally i think the mods for this game are at a point where people need to stop trying to reinvent the wheel and build up on whats already been published. In my mind, the Mod war is over.

Yeah pretty much. What you see in this screenshots is what it looks like, night or day. UZO is subdued in a similar manner. I prefer those because they're not as hard on the eye. That and the enviormental dats really help if your cursed with a dark monitor like me.

The ONLY other thing i'd like to do in this regard is address the bottom bar with the guages somehow. At night, they're an eyesore, and very distracting. Personnaly i see better after turning off the menu display (period key on the 9keypad). At one point i did have the bottom GUI gauges on a slide too. But put it back to where it was after realizing i like having the guages right there at a glance. Moving the mouse over to the corner to bring them up was more of a distraction then a help.

Can the guages have a night time mask applied much the same as the peri/obs?:hmm:

If not, we can always give them a different dial face so that it's not so bright.

Only reason ive been using the default skin's is because ive been turning the external camera off lately. At that point, there really is no point changing a subskin. You can't see it! What you see on the bridge is about it, so why bother? Playing without the external camera makes the game a bit more difficult. Ive always felt the external camera gives you info that you otherwise wouldnt have. Got a sound contact? Just dying to see what it is? you'll have to see it though your periscope first. Getting depth charge, wondering what the hell is going on up there? Well, you gotta think a bit more ;) Also adds to anticipation and edge of your seat when you hear the DC's coming down, but really can't tell exactly where until they start to explode.

As for the night mask, you really have to remove it if you use those low contrast skins for the periscopes. It makes the already red tinted graphics even more red, and looks very ugly, and is hard to see. Thats why i backed up the redmask.tga in the documents directory. I dont think you can make the redmask apply to the GUI on the bottom eithers. Its an overlay. Pull out the flag map/mod on the very upper left corner while using one of the periscopes, you'll see how overlays behave.

If anyone besides myself acutally uses this mod, i have a few questions:


1.) What did you think of using the type7 interior in a IXB?

2.) In your opinion Was the fuel increase in IXB and IXC too much or just enough?

3.) a real biggy, what would be your reaction of essentually taking the IXB out of the game. Turning the IXB into the IXC (or combining the two rosterwise), and then turning IXC into the IXC/40?

Reasons:

a.)I don't know how to fix the deck mounted flak gun. It only works on the IXB model, and it SHOULD work on the IXC but it doesnt. The end result is, you'll never seen an IXC with a IX/1 conning tower. Ubi's workaround on this bug was to make 9C's start with the 2nd conning tower instead of the first like they should. Additionally the IX/40 didnt come about tell late 42, so it would have never have had the deck mounted flak gun, nor would have had the IX/1 tower.

b.) I like the IXC/40. A bit faster, a bit more range then an IXC, but isnt as big as the IXD2. On top of that, more IXC/40's (87 commissioned) were made then IXC's! (54 comissioned, and even less IXB's 14) The IXC/40, although isnt very different then it's younger cousin, is acutally my favorite uboat in the game :88)

Just an idea, not sure if ill do it yet.

Sorry pal, not using the mod at the time being but have a question: how the 'go back to previous screen' is implemented? Is it working for TDC/map views? Would love to apply it to my GWX.
