A translation of the speech in the opening cinematic...
 

Just for fun, I was watching the opening cinematic for SH3 again. (You know, the one where the hydrophone operator reports a contact, the captain looks through the scope and sees a convoy and they launch torpedoes. )

I can pick out a few phrases from what they're saying, but can one of our German speaking friends provide a translation of what they're saying exactly? I did a search for this since I would have thought this had been posted already, but couldn't find anything. Thanks!

When I first saw the thread title...I was asking myself "How do you translate a wolf's howl?" :o

But then I see you're apparently using vanilla SH3, and I can't answer your question because I don't wait around for the opening credits...there's a need to get aboard the boat and go on outrageously long patrols in crap weather with 51 other guys...LMAO.

It's in GWX as well, right after the wolf.

i cant remeber how i did it, or how i shut it off, but i do remember, seeing a few years ago, that the dialogue was translated into english subtitles. i dont know how it happened, but i cant make it come back. maybe it was a video i saw, but i swear the opening movie had english subtitles.

this is going to drive me crazy now.:damn:

What I can't believe is that they're fireing at a convoy completely surfaced !! Are they INSANE !?!?! :o

Not at all! untill late '41 all my convoy attacks are made on the surface. (GWx)

One of the most common ways U-boats attacked was surfaced!

Wow! I think I have learned German playing this game, I sussed out the dialouge when I originally got the game back in 2005!! Of course multiple viewings of Das Boot helped too. :rock:

I tell ya, I am really picking up a ton of German from SHIII and of course Das Boot as well.

I even find myself cursing in German sometimes now. Scheisse! (Or however you spell it.)
