start of career help and shipping attacks

Hello, can anyone tell me i get the radio messages at the very beginning of the 1939 patrol and havent a clue what they mean and what shipping i am allowed to attack. Can anyone explain please or point me in the right direction. I understand that you can attack english shipping, but then i get a report that a polish sub has been sent to the bottom from another u boat??? no one said about attacking shipping from other countries. Can anyone please explain.

Thanks

If you are playing GWX (I assume here you are) the messages are just for script. You do not abide by them so to speak.

The community manual has listing of what countries you can attack and when.

Except in the beginning of the war, in 1939, the Fuhrer did not allow the sinking of any neutral or USA ships, so if you do, you will receive a negative renown and you don't want that. The messages you get will tell you when it is okay to attack USA shipping. At least mine did in TGW1.1a

Poland is the first country you are at war with
1st Sept 39
Then Britain on the 3rd Sept
Then the rest at different dates

There is a flag sheet in the top left corner of the periscope view
Drag into view and it has the dates of most of the countries you can attack

I also have sunk French shipping even when the flavor radio traffic says not to without any renown problems. Basically if you know the dates a country declared war on Germany you can start sinking them no matter what off the wall "no-belligerant" type statements the Fuhrer makes. Just make sure you're already at war with the country and no ill effects will happen to you in-game.

If you're using GWX hit F1 and look through the options in there, there'll be a list of all the countries you can attack ships from, and starting when.

No problem. :D

They put a lot of useful tools in there. Honestly I played GW 1.1 for almost a month before I even discovered the pulldown minefield maps so whenever I see something neat that could help other people out like that on a question I like to share. Well at least now that I'm back in the SH swing of things, until about a month and half ago I'd taken pretty much all of '06 off of it due to work, moving, etc. So there's still a whole pile of things I need to discover yet too. :rotfl:

Minefield map, where do you get that, I've not found it yet?

The minefield map for home ports is in the top left corner of the Navmap screen Rob
Along with the others

Are the mine field for home ports turn off or do I have to watch for them.

bigboywooly 12-24-06 05:24 PM

No they are on Rob
You have an escort ship out of the port that will avoid the mines ets

I believe Gizzmoe has created a no minefield\subnet mod for GWX if you want to use that
