Someone Please Explain This...
I'm 13 days into Patrol 5 GWX, late Feb, 1941, very light seas and dusk...ideal conditions. Came across a small convoy protected by a Hunter I and armed trawler.
Getting into postion I notice that the Hunter is taking hits from an unseen source. I nail the medium merchant in the convoy...armed trawler now comes over and wants to be my friend...I put up with it for awhile and then put a stern tube shot down his throat. The Hunter is in a world of hurt, crippled and knows I'm there, but can't do anything about it. I surfaced and took him and the rest out with the deck gun. I did not see any other vessels in the area and certainly no a/c. I'm not complaining, it was great fun...but what happened? |
Um, not sure of your question....a/c at dusk..sometimes but not all the time. Perhaps there was luftwaffen aircraft in the area and it just happened to be one of those dusk times a/c show up? Other than that I do not know who was shooting. Sometimes the AI get confused and will hit each other.

Warhawk...you understood the question, I think. I was aking why a Hunter was getting flamed by an unseen attack...best way to describe it.
I suppose it was possible that a careless deck watch chucked a cigarette into a oily rag bucket and things got out of hand... |
a mine?:hmm:
|
This was in Grid square BE 34...don't think it was a mine. It was definately getting thumped from above. Never saw anything like this before...won't bitch if it happens again either!
|
I have seen AI shoot each other for some unknown reason. That was an issue in the vanilla version.

May have been an AI sub
Or the Luftwaffe has got off its fat @ss to help out |
I suggested Luftwaffen but he said no planes. It is the twilight zone:roll:
|
Its often very hard to spot planes if your crew don't see them first. Almost impossible through the periscope.
