Mav's Mod collection
Ok - i have now finished and uploaded my mod to filefront.
It contains the following and are applicable over a stock GWX with JSGME.
Its located on my filefront webspace http://hosted.filefront.com/Mav87th hope thats the right link..... Now bear with me - first time i have ziped up stuff for a mod for others. ------------------------------------------------------------- Update up for my mod collection http://files.filefront.com/UPDATE_fo.../fileinfo.html Updates the menu1024 file for the Torpedolaufzeiten sheet to be placed and sized correctly. |
Clearly, I'm applying this mod incorrectly. I've got GWX installed and running well. I've enabled Integrated Orders through JSGME along with some of the other GWX mod options. But when I enable Mav's mod, the game crashes to desktop before it finishes loading. I've deleted the d3d9.cfg file since I'm not running in hi res mode, as Mav has instructed.
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated, thanks. |

Great work bro... Didn't tryed so far... Apears that some people might have a problem instaling this Mod, Maybe it would be good for you to include a Readme file with all the changes made, credits, and mostly instal instructions bro...  |

I do not have that installed here - so i dont know if that is the problem for you. Does the game crash when loading to the User Interface or when trying to start loading a mission? |
Thanks, Mav. The game won't even get me to the opening videos (the GMX howlin' wolf and the SH III intro video)...it crashes to the desktop along with the thoughtful offer of sending an error report:hmm:.
I uninstalled the game, deleted the SH3 folder on the root drive, defragged the hard drive, reinstalled the game, the 1.4b patch, the GMX mod, and the game loads just fine. I then used JSGME to load your mod ONLY...no other GMX mods were loaded (i.e. GMX intergrated orders)...the game crashes as described. I also tried setting my desktop resolution to match that of the game...no go. I want to use your mod, but so far, I can't run the game with it. |
Hmm that sounds really weired.
If you do not use the hires option - try deleting all files in the folder - \MODS\Mav's GWX addon mod\ But leave the directory data there. That would eliminate the possibility of the hires mod interferring. In the data directory there are not really any files that would hinder SHIII from running at all - i could understand if it would not let you get into a mission. If you want me to zip up a version without the formentioned files then just mail me and ill put it up besides the mod on filefront. |
Hey, Mav...your suggestion worked! I deleted those files but left the "data" directory and its files intact, loaded your mod, and the game loads and runs just fine, thanks.
Can I load the other GMX mods also? Thanks for your help on this. |
Thanks for the Mod Mav. I do have a couple of questions about it though. I am not sure what you are talking about when you say "!!DELETE the d3d9.cfg from the mod's folder before you install if you dont run in hires mode!!". I don't know if I am running in "Hires Mode" or not. I have all of the four selectable items in my video options within the game selected, and one of them refers to high quality textures I beleive. Is this what you are referring to?
I also don't know what you mean when you say "Tools icons switched so the ones with bearings are in the default slot". What exactly are you talking about here. I am also a little unsure about what all the other features of your mod do. I am a little afraid to just try it because I am afraid I might mess something up and have to abandon my career and start everything over with a fresh install or something like that. Is it possible for you to put together some kind of readme file to explain how to install this mod and what all it does? Is it also possible to break out each segment of your mod package so we can pick and choose which things we want as compared to some things we may not want to change (like the key mapping changes). Thanks for providing this for us. If all that I ask is a lot of work, please don't do it. I will just finish up my first career, and then give your mod a try. Thanks again. |
I removed all the high res stuff, and left everything in the Data folder alone, except the Commands folder, and this mod works great. I like it better than the one in UBWA. Great work:up:

Rudi: GREAT:up: Now it's time for you to go hunt some Jerry's in floating can's:arrgh!:
The integrated ordes mod will definetly interfere with my mod as it allso mods the \data\Menu\menu_1024_768.ini file. I dont think the other mod's will interfere. If you REALLY want to use the integrated orders mod then you can carefully merge the menu_1024_768.ini files of my mod and the integrated orders mod and replace the menu_1024_768.ini file in the integrated orders mod directory with the new merged one (but thats pretty much work....) Hocking: If you don't know if your running the hires mod - your not. It requires you to fiddle with windows through Microsofts Applications Compatability Kit and that would DEFINETLY ring a bell for you. So do as i described - delete the 5 files d3d9.cfg, d3d9.dll, SH3.sdb, SP2 Res fix uninstall.bat and SP2 Res fix.bat before you install the mod via JSGME. From that point on you can not mess anything up with regards to your carrer. The only thing changed from that point is graphics, tools and keysettings. You can download each of the mods seperately, but non of them are GWX ready as per se. Thats why i collected them into one easy installing mod. I did not do any of the wonderful work of making the mod's, but you will find threads with pictures and explanations via the top thread of the mod forum. With regards to tool icons specificaly - the tool icons in the top of your map view...protractor, line, compas etc. etc. They have "stock GWX" the tool picture when you click it. What i did was exchange that with the really cool tools like bearings for the line and compass and a small compass for the course tool. Anyway - try it - if you dont like it just uninstall it via JSGME - its a 30 min venture to install run SH3 test it, close SH3 and uninstall it again. Ill try to upload some pictures to filefront describing the mod. Pictures says more the words with regards to graphical changes. Tuddley: Good to hear that it worked for you the first time. Way to go:arrgh!: But again i can not take credit for the work of the mods them self - only for collecting them into a package.:yep: |
I am enjoying this addon very much. One question at this time, what commands were changed in the command file (i.e. command.en).

Sounds great Mav. I know exactly what you are talking about now, and this is exactly what I have been looking for if you have read some of my posts in other threads. I understand what to do now, and thanks alot for all of your time in getting this mod out and explaining to me what to do.
