gwx asdic sweeps
i started playing my first gwx patrol today, and so far so good. however, i was confronted by a corvette that depth charged me for 2 hours and ran out of cans, then made perfect passes for 4 more hours all with only doing one asdic sweep in the beginning. i was running silent at 2 knots at 230meters. how did he hold on to my position with no asdic sweeps?

Firstly he obviously ran out of 'cans' and secondly hoe can you be so sure he couldn't hear you on 'passive' listening :hmm:
Were you in 'silent running' mode ? How deep were you ? The chances are you werent 'silent' as far as his 'ears' were concerned otherwise he wouldn't have been making repeated passes over you :yep: :arrgh!: |
Stay in his baffles, seaman.
Always try to stay at his aft, make lots of course changes. At 230m and 2knts you should be alright. |

..... danlisa is that the yamato in your sig? |
Good for you, Cobalt. I was going to point that out for you, but you got to it first.
As for how he managed that trick, either the game cheats (most likely) or, to paraphrase from The Enemy Below: "He is very good, this one". |

i actually forgot the rig for silent running for the first 4 hours, does that change detection even if i was running the same depth and speed? (230m at 2knots) ?
silly me forgot how to play this game |
Sure will
Without silent running your sub is like a DD magnet Even then you really want to lower the speed to 1 kt |
Comments re detection
Hi to all,
For a while I thought the GWX actually did have an issue, in that its escorts and destroyers are weak compared to NYGM, last night on my 6 th patrol I got creamed, so I guess I spoke too soon. Also big congrats to devs, I found a convoy with a real mixed bag of ships including Pyro, transports and a Nelson Battleship, alas this was to be my last convoy attack. |
The sip in the sig looks to be a Adm. Scheer PB.
