My AA gunners are useless.
So I load up a custom mission in a U-Flak to test it out. I get my AA gunners up on deck to shoot at the British bombers, but they just sit still and don't open fire. Ever. Any explanation for this?! :damn:

Did you remember to tell the WO to open fire? |
Yes, I said "Fire at will."
Edit: Yes, yes, always blame Bernard... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: |
well ... try changing the settings of the distance or type of plane to engage
or just wait for them ( the planes ) to be sighted and choose engage target |
I'll try that. Thanks.

check to see if you had silent running also. They will keep quiet otherwise.

The Sleeping Flak Gunner Bug
You may have the best and even specialized flak gunner(s) this side of the Atlantic but you may experience having them do absolutely nothing behind the guns, while your UBoat take an aerial pounding. This is known as the "Sleeping Flak Gunner Bug" (Copyright 2005, Fishmachine). It's been in SH3 since the start and has yet to be corrected. This bug occurs with many different conning tower/flak gun configurations and happens to different players randomly. Some people experience it all of the time and some never do. Here are some methods players have reported to overcome the sleeping flak gunner bug:

I aways Make sure that i have a qualified officer in the watch tower that helps, plus make sure you have atleast one guy qualified to man the AA...make sure they are on fire at will, and check the settings of the AA ( engage all targets/ maximum range )last but not least always make sure the AA is in the starting position Eg facing the aft of the boat, I have noticed if the guns are facing anywere other than aft they WILL NOT engage.

A very valuable message has been passed here... and that is:
"Never leave Bernard in charge of the guns!" It's OK, though. I have the same problem! Much better to duke it out with 'em yourself. |
