Yep, famous story there. The guy knew where to get his sources - tried in practice. Too bad for him that it still didn't work. I think there'll be an endless debate on whether Doenitz was a tactical genius or a crank who stuck too hard to an idea.
Regardless, he was definitely a great leader that the U-boat fleet respected. |

Graf Spey
Talking of videos and pictures, does anyone know where I can get photos of the Graf Spey. I've tried Floating Dockyard but they only do USA ships. The IWM is too confusing; I've spent ages on their site trying to locate a picture.
I ask because I was once on the Graf Spey as a lad, in 1937/38 and would like a picture. |
