REF_small in ship's eqp file. Is this radar?
[Equipment 21]
NodeName=L01 LinkName=REF_small StartDate=19380101 EndDate=19451231 Here is one example. I ask because every ship has this from the beginning or before the war starts even trawlers. Radar did not show up in even moderate quantity until early 1941 and in 1940 except for a few big ships did not exist. If this is, in fact, radar, we need to edit this to reflect when each of these ships generally would have had it. If its not, what is it? Bismarck has four large ones so I am betting it is not sonar:rotfl: Any explanation would be helpful. Wulfmann |
No its a searchlight

:rotfl: Thanks for not making a deserved comment!!!:rotfl:
Well then. How is radar determined per ship and when? Wulfmann |
They are in the R0x entries in the cfg
Ref |
I believe its in the SNS file - the sensors
Dont ask me which one is radar though as they are just numbers Ah see Ref knew |
Thanks, I know where the radar is regarding its use.
What I seek is a way to determine what has radar and when. There must be an off on switch for each ship. If not then all warships are radar equipped from day one? Wulfmann |
The SNS file does that
HuntIII [Sensor 8] NodeName=R01 <----------As Ref said above LinkName=Type290 StartDate=19410901 <------------- Radar starts EndDate=19430601 <----------- And ends for Type290 [Sensor 9] NodeName=R01 LinkName=Type271 StartDate=19430601 EndDate=19451231 |
Thanks, again for not taking the shot I deserved. The next question should be how dumb am I.
There may be no end to that one!:rotfl: So, I will now run a check of all the radar in all the units. I am curious how well my reference books and SH3 devs compare. Wulfmann |

BTW, using the .sns files for each unit, if the [Sensor X] is renamed properly you can add / subtract sensors (visual, radar, RWR, searchlights, hydrophones, sonar) nullify them etc. Very easy to do.
Same thing applies for the .eqp files for weapon nodes. Von |
After looking thru the files I was amazed at how close the Devs were in getting the when right on this.
Makes me wonder how they were so far off on other easy aspects. I only changed the Frigates from late 1940 to early 41 and the Elcos I moved back into 1942. Other than that (and pushing back the Italian DDs into 1942) they are all within reason, IMO. Wulfmann |
I was referring only to the radar in the .sns files

Sorry to bump this old thread. Was just exchanging some messages with BBW about Soviet sensors and if they are correct. :damn: Didn't know they had radar but I think the cfg are nor correct.
