Torpedo loading problem
I know there have been many posts about problems loading torpedos. I guess it's a continuing issue (i.e. bug). I've got plenty of crew in the torpedo room, cycled silent running on and off, dragged the torps to the loading slots, etc, ad nauseum but to no avail. Mouse hovering over the torps just yields the torp in loading queue message; no loading times available. I've waited hours (fortunately with time compression) but without success. It's really frustrating not being able to load more torps especially when likely targets are around during a career mission.
This doesn't seem to be a problem with single missions so what's the deal? I'm running a fresh SH3 install with only the Gray Wolves mod. Anybody have any suggestions? -OMC-Bullet_Magnet |
Are they internal or external stores?
If they are external stores, you may be either going too fast or the weather may be too rough to load them (this is why I always always ALWAYS get those externals inside as soon as possible; weather seems to run foul during the latter half of my patrols). |
There internal so weather, speed, etc shouldn't be a factor. I've read a lot of the posts regarding torp loading problems and have tried to make sure I'm not doing something stupid but i can't figure it out. Silent running seems to be turned off as the crew doesn't seem to be whispering. Even with a full torp room of crew, the bar isn't much more than a third of the way toward the right but still after a few hours, even the newbie crew members should have loaded a torp, right?

What TC are you using? at 32x your crew fatigue will grow in no time and the poor tired deckaps in the torp room will stop working when they are knackered. You might want to check that they are all given plenty of sleep and then run it up to more than 64x so your fatigue doesn't grow too fast. This means go to the map screen F5 then hit I to whatch what happens with the torp load.

TarJak--
Thanks for the suggestions but I've tried all that. Rested crew, various TC (even 1X!!) and still no luck. I can save the mission and the same thing happens when I resume it. This is only the third mission in this career and although I didn't study it carefully, I think the same thing might have been happening during the first two mission. And, after a while I get a CTD which never used to happen. Maybe there is something corrupted in this career and I should just start over. :shifty::x:down: Also, is there anyway to override the TC limitation when there's a lot of traffic around like when you're leaving the harbor? It seems to take forever to get from Kiel out into the Atlantic. |
If you use SH3commander you can set different TC setting for different actions. So if you are confident that you won't hit anything you can set your close to land TC to 4096 if that's what you want and your machine can handle it.

I'm trying to resist temptation until GWX comes out so that will be my next and hopefully last re-install. |
Making my mad
I am sharing kozowhs Problem.
I play stock SH3, went into AM93 (near Liverpool), found two sleeping T2, which I both torpedoed once. My crew strikes. They simply don't reload torpedoes, though no fatigue, no TC, no silent running, still torpedoes in the internal storage, automatic reload setting. All it says is "torpedo is prepared for loading" (or whatever is written in English, I use die deutsche Version, of course). Things get even better. After the torpedo strike, a trawler and a destroyer appear, both sunk by bow torpedos. As usual, they don't reload. I saved the game, restarted it - and the torpedo tubes are filled again! No empty slot, and these filled torpedoes are even in the internal storage - as if I hadn't shot a torpedo... Great, unlimited torpedos, unlimited victims! Strangely enough, my aft torpedoes (which I used for the T2s) are still ready for loading, but don't load. It's really a pain in the a*§%. Why don't they reload like they did the missions before. :damn: I already encountered the problem last mission. Had all internal torps shot and tried to reload the externals. No chance. Weather was calm. No enemies near. Enough men... :hmm: Went into Dublin to find the best hunting ground of my life there. It was like xmas. 1 DD, 2 Troop Transports, 3 Liners, 1 T3, 1 C3 and only one single Elco boat to defend the whole thing. :o But I couldn't load torpedoes, so I went sight-seeing. On my way back along the coast I hit a mine, but made it back to Lorient. Does nobody have an explanation to this? :damn: |
