Bouge CVE in a convoy!

I was patroling grid AK33 and I found a convoy. My jaw droped when I saw it was a ALL TANKER CONVOY! But what I saw next blew my socks off. A BOUGE CLASS CVE! I fired my last 3 fish at it(2 foward, 1 aft) and it sunk. I have finaly have gotten proper revenge for U-124.

THANK YOU GW!!!!

Several carriers sunken by one of my IXCs. Don't remember the number, though.

I got the Illustrious and sank her in the open ocean in a task force:D

I did the same on my way to one of my Drumbeat patrols. I'd say Donitz would be pleased with sinking a Bogue.... That puppy was more than 10,000 tons.

I left the rest of the convoy alone, like a good little Paukenschlager. :know:

Oh yes I encountered the same convoy and took it out.As I recall there are 2 convoys like that in GW there's one in the early years of the war and there's another one in late 44 early 45 with loads of Escorts.

Well done mate

The only carriers I've sunk were the Illustrious at Scapa and two Bouge CVEs at Norfolk. I haven't seen any in the open sea..........yet :D

I managed to sink a British carrier as she left the bay of Gibraltar heading ito the Atlantic. She was shadowed by several destroyers and two large cruisers as part of a task-force.

I set up a firing position heading south and waited for them to approach. Luckily she didn't alter course too much. Running silent I had a destroyer behind me - I was that close!

She was running at 20kts, so didn't have much time - but fired all 4 torps as a salvo set at 2 degrees apart. All 4 hit, and given her speed she ploughed into the sea headfirst. Took no time at all to sink - less than a minute before she vanished!

In the region of 30K tons - my first and only carrier!

Great feeling.

Well Done!!

Go to BF13, you will run into them every other patrol or so. :shifty:

Good job! I've never managed to sink one yet; it's always to far off or I can't get all the eels to detonate!

"Try harder"

It is March 7th 1942, and I just sunk my first ever aircraft carrier in a campaign game.

My heart leaped when I saw a Bogue class escort carrier in the middle of convoy, it wasn't the first time I have seen one during campaign but those big ship have always been too far to catch.

She took three torpedoes, and took quite a while to sink, but finally she capsized, and went under the waves.
Bad news was that the escorts were pissed and found me even if I were in the middle of convoy, but they must have heard me while my crew was reloading torpedoes. I managed to survive (silent running + decoy) but damage report was quite bad: Hull integrity down to 70%. Radio, hydrophone, radar, deck gun and half of batteries destroyed.
Fortunately, no crew casualties.
