Shoulder-SAM for subs, Yay or Nay?

What do you all think of using that shoulder SAM you get when you are surfaced on some subs? Is it worth using at times or is just better to haul ass and dive deep?

Stock: usually worth it
Modded: usually safer staying deep

I use them as offensive weapons, not for protection.:D

As Molon Labe said, in stock, where SAM are over effective, it's usefull to clean the garden before playing with your fishes.
But if you use the LWAMI MOD, you will use them only when you see you couldn't avoid a MAD detection or an incoming helo.
And with the MOD, the Orion become many times harder to hit (need to much time to go to conning tower depth and to shoot before the Orion is out of range).

So, I suppose ASWnut is playing with stock DW and not LWAMI.

I rarely use them if i do sometimes i use them as signal flares :D but hey to me i dont need them the sail view is nice as it is.

I'd rather go deep. In stock, the aircraft are slow to declare something hostile, so they're often slow to attack a surfaced submarine unless you fired a weapon. That means you can often shoot one, but I still don't think it's wise. Usually helos have friends. So... you pop up and shoot, but you're still spotted and might get targeted by over the horizon ASCM.

It's just safer to go deep and avoid detection in the first place.

ML, do you know if there is more than one version of 4.X? Seems to me LW had two versions. 4.0 and the 4.0 Playtest version but they may be one and the same.

They are either the same, or one is a slightly updated version that works slightly better.
