The USS Intrepid takes to the waters again!
 

Drydock repairs. One of my boys' (Hubby included :roll: ) favorite NYC destinations. :yep:

Ouch...talk about stuck in the mud!

I actually witnessed this:

"April 28, 1983off San Francisco, Calif.USS ENTERPRISE runs aground within sight of the port of San Francisco after eight months at sea. It is stranded for five hours until the tide and tugs pull it free."



They had the crew at Quarters and Sea and Anchor Detail on the flight deck and had them running back & forth across the flight deck in an attempt to get her off the mud. I was unable to find a pic of it but there was one in the Chronicle the next day. She actually ran aground off of Alameda NAS. The captain was relieved of command over this incident.

It's not just talk anymore. :88)
